  1. sugar snaps! grind a bunch of fresh mint & rock salt - lemon juice, oil, black pepper. cut small pods, shell big pods, mix dressing eat raw!
  2. roasted beets are the best. wrapped in foil with fresh herbs; thyme, sage, rosemary. when cooked, peel & a little balsamic. keep in fridge!
  3. @ShubhaShetty thanks for the human clock and the Einstein quote. :) http://billychasen.com/clock
  4. the first broad beans - simply crushed with mint, a little olive oil, grated pecorino, black pepper & lemon juice - on plain toast. scrummy!
  5. more beetroot than you can beat off with a stick! okay, you can eat them all year round if clamped & pickled. my inside will be deep purple.
  6. every which way I look I've got hundreds of ladybird lavae. hoping they're not evil harlequins but I can't tell the difference yet.
  7. only one thing to say, Summer Pudding!
  8. first goosegogs made a damn fine crumble. alas, strawbs all gone! redcurrants next...
  9. would go to see Banksy @ Bristol if it wasn't so damn popular! http://bit.ly/R22fX .
  10. bright but humid. sweetcorn looks sickly; win some, lose some. to the library; off to seek the vanishing face of gaia...
  11. ...and the last asparagus before 2010.
  12. raining. any way, I'm picking strawberries before the birds do, though you should really pick them with the sun out - makes them sweeter.
  13. it's great here, and I'm feeling great! I should send out postcards. Postcards from home, it's an idea! Weather nice. wish you were here. X
  14. in the post today from the Lib-Dems, copy of a hand-written letter. s'pose it makes them look human but do I want leaders who can't use PCs?
  15. windy; mustn't make a balloon out of the old greenhouse. sweetcorn in - and borlotti - looking good even if I say so myself...
  16. so, blue turns to grey. off to Lidl for cheap growbags to plant peppers on the waste patch - saves digging; saves the already dug soil.
  17. @AllotmentAli good luck - you should see asparagus before that, what you mustn't do is pick it until it's in its 3rd year.
  18. there's not a single cloud in the sky; don't get me wrong, the blue is good but stark nakedness unnerves.
  19. return of the prodigal sun. hoe hoe hoe.
  20. a break in the clouds, but is it too wet underfoot to dig a compost trench for squashes and cucumbers? forecast suggests it's now or never.
