  7. @daiyami that I believed the satire, says something about the suspension of disbelief that I have come to regard our government with.
  8. @daiyami violence is an extreme culmination of attitudes. It's unjust to reward those attitudes in one group, and punish them in another.
  9. @AdeleMcAlear he's in a city in the US. I hadn't put the name urban culture to it, but it's apt, and not w/o redeeming qualities, perhaps?
  10. @DearYvette yes, I agree. I don't know what that group might be for him. He's a great kid, but like most of us at that age, needs direction.
  11. @AdeleMcAlear He was born here. His Mom's from Haiti. They're both delightful, and his dad seemed like a good guy, just not around any more.

  13. it troubles me, seeing the effect American culture is having on him. Where did the animosity come from? Who planted that seed?
  14. Of the immigrants I've worked with and known, almost to a single one of them, they've been respectful, civil, decent people.
  15. In his case, I'd like to see him steer away from the gangsta hip-hop street thug angry in your face culture he's gravitating towards.
  16. The same week I start writing about the son of an immigrant seeking cultural identity, along comes the daughter of an immigrant's hearings.
  17. @daiyami incidentally, yes I do equate racism with violence. It's one reason I object to cultivating seeds of racism.
