  1. RT @darrenjw: RT @newscientist: Dark day for British science: UK science budget cut by £600 million http://bit.ly/6b5fOe
  2. XML-based DataNucleus is so much less of a hassle! But my eyes are crossing from too much coding. Time to switch tracks.
  3. About ready to give up on annotations in DataNucleus and switch to old-fashioned XML. Sigh.
  4. Darwin's On the Origin of Species was published 150 years ago today. Happy birthday, darwinism. :)
  5. RT @martiell: Hadron Collider pics - http://2tu.us/14cy - the damage isn't exactly inspiring, is it?
  6. Important lesson learned about writing papers: One day reading, one day writing. It seems I digest refs better if I let them sit overnight.
  7. @sjcockell I know, Facebook has been telling me that I haven't been connecting with coworkers who work in the same office. Um, sorry?
  8. Thanks for posting! Me too! RT @jhabig I'm so excited Bill Nye @TheScienceGuy is on twitter...he's one of the reasons I became a scientist!
  9. Just wrote the first paragraph in five pages that actually makes coherent sense. At least it's progress of a sort.
  10. Liked "The Triumvirate of Scientific Data" by @fgibson http://bit.ly/PukXb
  11. @marcoscarvalho Hm, strange. It was a 404 for a few minutes. Maybe overwhelmed by clicks?
  12. @marcoscarvalho Ooops, 404 Not Found! RT Garden Jawa http://ow.ly/BEEO
  13. Reading up on workflows. Never realized there were so many strategies for every aspect of it.
  14. Back in Newcastle after my #igem holiday. Disappointed that it's over, very jetlagged, and quite behind on work. Back to the real world.
  15. Time for the last #igem talk of the day. Wish there were more talks, or that I could have duplicated myself 6 times to see all of them.
  16. @fuquincho No worries about the Japanese #igem tweets. Part of the appeal is meeting people from all over the world.
  17. Successful optimized sustained cell free system in #igem experimental track by Viktoria Stepanova. Sustained for over 20 hours!
  18. @jhabig @d_swan It took a few weeks last year for all of the #igem talks to appear online. Better organized this year so maybe sooner?
  19. @d_swan Lego Mindstorm definitely costs "Less than $50 000" :D
  20. "Synthetic biology has great artistic potential". Very cool stuff from ArtScienceBangalore #igem.
