  1. hmm, news.bbc seems somewhat slow
  2. giving up on cutting n' shutting data for the day
  3. simpledb is taunting me whilst mysql is whispering sweetly in my ear
  4. @jonathantweed yeah I think thats the problem, we're trying to do both !
  5. @jonathantweed it's interesting, I guess scoping can make it diff to have a nice public collection uri ? /times/80s > /times/80s/all
  6. thanks for the design help, we've gone for some scoping in the URI for various reasons, drop me a mail if you're interested
  7. @jonathantweed I guess the issue then is how do you access the entire collection (rather than the one scoped to you), just do it unauthed ?
  8. @will_j, @caius I know what you mean
  9. @jonathantweed ah maybe your last tweet answers that, it's the same just authd or unauthd
  10. @jonathantweed so whats the uri for all events that happened in the 1980s if /time/1980s is scoped to me in some way ?
  11. @will_j thats my preference, we're just debating if it's necessary, I'm thinking they are separate concepts, thus should have sep uris
  12. so, can you use /entities to represent all entities in a collection when unauth and use /entities to represent a users entities when auth ?
  13. @xbaz, @jonathantweed, @frankieroberto I was equating format to representation, a mistake, you can have many reps in a single format - ta !
  14. or does that count as multiple representations even though it's pointing to the same URI with the same format (.e.g html) ?
  15. so I guess what I'm saying is : is it ok for a single representation for a resource/concept to change based on auth status ?
  16. I'm not sure if what I just said is actually a problem or not (but it seems a bit weird!)
  17. @jonathantweed if a rep changes based on auth status you could end up with 2 ppl ref'ing the same concept but ending up with diff data ?
  18. so should a restful resource be allowed to change based on whether you're accessing it as an authenticated or unauthenticated user ?
  19. the morris dancers are out in otley again
  20. @Squiggle sorry it got claimed already !
