  1. Taking it easy with more cats, this time in a video-illustrated poem: http://bit.ly/kwNjM
  2. @pnewnan Hrm. Don't think so. Would it have been via Twitter?
  3. Okay, let's try to get this thing started again. How about this one, about the memory of cats? http://bit.ly/8FN184
  4. Next step: try to continue life as before, except with more hugs.
  5. Alan wouldn't have been able to stand all this ritual. But he was also an atheist and would've wanted the memorial to be about the mourners.
  6. Had a long conversation with Teryn about her experience of losing a fiancée. Her advice: don't get a puppy or a tattoo for at least 3 months
  7. A good summary of Alan's life from an academic perspective: http://bit.ly/1eK9d3
  8. The current theory, incidentally, is that he hit the asphalt hard enough that a helmet wouldn't have helped. Wear your helmet anyway.
  9. (He was also my long-term financial plan. I always just assumed one or another of the crazy startups he sucked me into would hit it big.)
  10. He was so smart, so intense, so driven. More so than anyone I've met, on all three counts. He never wasted a minute of his life.
  11. Was super weird seeing Alan breathing. The only damage was to his head. Every individual part was functional except for Alan himself.
  12. Listen up, you guys: wear your fucking bicycle helmet, alright?
  13. Fuck, I half-wish his death had precipitated an emergency. Would give me something to focus on. I'm good at solving problems, not... this.
  14. It's for sure: Alan is gone. Trying to decide whether to see his body before they pull the plug. My last interaction with him was a good one
  15. Radio silence for a while, I think.
  16. Also, still trying to figure out what Wave is for. Maybe it'd be useful if there were email notification when I got a new Wave.
  17. Still trying to figure out how the broken custom scrollbar works in Wave. Who implements a custom scrollbar in *2009*?
  18. That icon takes up practically the whole screen on my Netbook, for serious.
  19. Evidently, Wave thinks it's more useful to show "zip file," an absolutely enormous zipper icon, then "file" again, than the filename itself.
  20. The solution to your technical problem: http://bit.ly/4FB9Kb
