  1. Pilot studies and 2 meetings today. Finished 99% of the work I need to do before break + conference.
  2. If I go to CSCW, CHI, and ASA I'll end up in Georgia 3 times in a very short timespan... Where's the variety?
  3. @sarahdcady Congrats! That's awesome news :)
  4. Wish I had the reviewer rebuttal handling instructions before writing the CHI rebuttal...
  5. @pancheros 3
  6. CHI rebuttal submitted. Hoping that it goes to a 2nd AC
  7. I had hoped to discuss Sociology-HCI intersections at the Soc seminar yesterday but I presented my research as well and ppl focused on that
  8. Happy World Usability Day! The HCI prgram will be doing a "usability relay" starting at 5 PM. @ the MU base of the grand stairway
  9. @dmrussell what's really amusing is if you use mixed methods then critics from both sides offer contradictory (though still neg) critiques
  10. @mjheying With Internet it's about ensuring affordable access (not making it free)--mostly for remote areas. Although we do need an upgrade
  11. Is the Internet central enough to life that (like mail) we should ensure everybody has access (in Finland Internet access is a right)?
  12. @profgesser that's a nice use of it. I've seen text messaging used for diary studies as well.
  13. I also liked that I finally found a way to allow me to be an empiricist for research but constructionist for teaching.
  14. @profgesser I am looking for use examples. I typically teach classes with on and off campus students with high tech knowledge.
  15. Stats discussion became a debate on epistemological basis of HCI. Thankfully empiricists were the majority voice.
  16. Discussing the (mis)use of statistics in HCI today during the weekly seminar (room 20 Howe Hall). Always good to analyze one's field.
  17. @barrywellman I'm curious, do you follow all of your students? Also do you have a write up somewhere about your use of Twitter in class?
  18. @adamfaeth I'm honestly surprised they recommend macs to cpres... Although I guess most of my undergrad programming was on a Unix box
  19. To be fair to the meta-reviewer, the 3 was dismissable (1 line reviews typically suggest the reviewer didn't read) but the 4.5 did discuss
  20. One reviewer did give me a 4.5 and another gave me a 3 (the meta-review dismissed them both for not pointing out flaws...)
