  1. Updated now, but deleting the volume is unnecessary. RT @TechnologyGeek: HowToGeek - How To Delete a VHD in Windows 7 http://bit.ly/4tGMLO
  2. This information is not correct! RT @TechnologyGeek: HowToGeek - How To Delete a VHD in Windows 7 http://bit.ly/4tGMLO
  3. @nzregs the big advantage is the smaller attack surface on HVS because less code is running in the parent partition.
  4. @nzregs not that I can think of - the HVS OS uses less hard drive space & RAM, and runs fewer services. Not enough for an extra VM, tho.
  5. @nzregs stand-alone hyper-v server uses fewer resources in the host partition, leaving more available for virtual machines.
  6. @2Snails Integrated Scripting Environment - it's a script editor specifically for powershell.
  7. :: raises hand :: RT @grork: Wanted: Proof that @big_ben_clock is on time & accurate. Who wants to go stand outside big and record it?
  8. @garrymartin We use the API to fix the disk ID so the boot loader finds the disk in a VM, otherwise there are broken references. (2 of 2)
  9. @garrymartin BCDBoot records info abt. the disk, incl. mount info when run. VHD Boot wrks w/ that info, VM Boot doesn't. (1 of 2)
  10. @garrymartin Gary, can you give me more context for that statement? I think I know what it is, but I want to be sure.
  11. @ProphetPVD If by "used" you mean "natively booted", then yes. Otherwise, VHDs can be used by lots of different programs, not just on Win7.
  12. @pbrouillet thanks for the pic. I will look into this. Would you mind submitting an issue on the wim2vhd website so I can track this?
  13. Took me too long to figure out : RT @brianhartsock: Just realized Powershell has negative array indexing ($array[-1] = the last element).
  14. @pbrouillet were you using the latest version of wim2vhd when you had that problem?
  15. @MartinHatch if you have a system that can run 64-bit Windows, then yes.
  16. @ecscrescendo Hyper-V Server must be managed remotely.
  17. @ecscrescendo to manage Hyper-V srv, use Hyper-V Manager in admin tools. On Win7, dwnld RSAT to get it. On r2srv, install it from features
  18. @neil_rees Yes, you can see other volumes. VHD boot exposes the VHD as another type of storage device, so there are no VMs used to do it.
  19. @BxBoy there wouldn't be any point, really. Can't run the hypervisor in a virtual machine, so there's no nested virtualization.
  20. RT @sysinternals Update to Disk2vhd - V1.2 fixes the space requirement calc. for the volume the VHD will be written to. http://bit.ly/3vc51t
