  1. Check out Patrick Boury's gorgeous photos of San Francisco and beyond: http://tinyurl.com/3ckr83
  2. Listening to Scenesat. http://scenesat.com/ Sorry, Slayradio, I'll be back soon, I promise!
  3. Yay, package from Hong Kong, must be DealExtreme! Ordered literally months ago, almost forgot about it!
  4. @JohnDowdell obviously if you get the largest capacitance for a given voltage you will always have problems. tolerance can be very good.
  5. @todbot i though it was propylene glycol or something similar. not too far from antifreeze. :-)
  6. @freaklabs now you know my secrets! good luck and let me know how it works out.
  7. @freaklabs yes. 180C is where i set the hotplate, but actual temp depends on many things, like groundplane on bottom of board, etc.
  8. Here is a beautiful MCM (multi chip module), in this case a Linux PC. All of this is inside one IC pkg! http://tinyurl.com/yaogr6w
  9. Cell phones are constantly pushing the envelope of semiconductor packaging technology. Chips may hide more components, multi die inside!
  10. Example (iPhone): http://bit.ly/4aaoEN look for PA in upper right. Most other components 0201+
  11. Fun fact: Most cellphones today contain power amplifier chips that consist of a 5x5 QFN part with 20 or 30 01005's and 2 or 3 die inside.
  12. @interactmatter yes. it's not that hard if you can see what you are doing. worst part is - they ALWAYS stick to the soldering iron tip.
  13. I need to clarify. Smaller than grains of iodized table salt. I'm sure there are truck-sized salt crystals that become the spice.
  14. @townsendkevin I won't even do 0805's without a scope. Why work on things you can't see? And I have good eyesight!
  15. I need to create a project that uses 01005's just to show that components smaller than salt crystals are useful. 0805 0603 0402 0201 01005!
  16. @freaklabs oh, forgot the most important part. hot plate for preheat. night and day difference.
  17. @freaklabs lol, i used to work with 01005's. 0201 is large! advice: scope&light, flux, Metcal w/fine tips, paste in syringes, patience!
  18. @invenext sweet!
  19. Help is available on the Discussion Forums! http://bit.ly/2vXzNd
  20. @rrmutt i understand what you're saying now! i almost always do roll my own, based on the IPC calculators. (pcb matrix and my own)
