  1. Trying to tie up loose ends before I move to Livingston, Guatemala in two days. I think I've covered everything... just have to pack!
  2. The flies are gaining resistance to the bug spray. I'll have to learn their language, earn their trust, and then kill them unexpectedly.
  3. Ended up taking the weekend off, but did a lot of work today. If I don't consolidate all these notes soon, I'll drown in this mess.
  4. Toenails are done, now what else can I do to keep from working on my dissertation? There's a movie with Britney Spears on TV...
  5. It looks like Hurricane Carlos is headed right towards Central America... you stay away Carlos! Shoo! That should do it.
  6. Ended up taking the day off yesterday. Can't loose the momentum, must get to the dissertation today...after I do my toenails though.
  7. I slept for 12 hours and what a great sleep. Take that insomnia! Now to get to work. So much to do!
  8. Doing research all day is so tiring! I could sleep for 16 hours. I wouldn't say this to construction workers and waitresses though.
  9. With the work I did today, I can finish a chapter of my dissertation tonight and start fielding motion picture deals before it's published.
  10. Specific tasks for today, finding out more about La Gomera, Gualan and San Jeronimo...and what it has to do with Garifuna history...
  11. The director of the National Archives doesn't like me and she charged me double for copies of 18th century documents. He who laughs last...
  12. My dissertation reveals events in Garifuna history that will be so controversial that I've stopped discussing it. Publish date: Nov 2010

  14. Spending the day at the National Archives and the Academy of Guatemalan Geography and History. Leaving early, staying late.

  16. Sometimes I get on a roll doing my dissertation, and I'm at it all day. Then the next day I'm so burned out that I hate research.

  18. What an *extremely* productive day at the library. I'm taking lots of great notes, but I'm not really writing. One day I'll have to write.
  19. Slept TERRIBLY. Either I had or I thought I had the heebies. Today's task, all-day research day at University of Guatemala library. Woo hoo!
  20. A few Americans in the National Archives today. Funny how they never say hello, even if I smile and say hello first. Ugly Americans.
