  1. I am chagrined to report (esp. after dinner at Fore Street) that you can't legally buy a Fernet-Branca anywhere in the state of Maine.
  2. Phantom Gourmet interviewing yet another crap fast-food restaurant owner. Wonder if he'll tell us his food sucks?
  3. Have officially decided that, even beautifully done and served with a stunning Atlantic Ocean view, a lobster roll is an overrated food.
  4. Saw a wild turkey hen wandering along Rt 9 near the Chestnut Hill Mall, and thought, "Good on ya, girl: you got away!"
  5. The Standard Baking Co. in Portland, ME is wondrous; I want to grab one of everything!
  6. Who wants to read about food the day after Thanksgiving? If you do, see my Phoenix review of Chinatown's Vinh-Sun BBQ http://bit.ly/7gLmA1
  7. What do they sell at a Phantom kiosk? Rave reviews? RT @DanAndelman: Phantom kiosk at Cambridgeside.
  8. Quietest Thanksgiving in years: entire extended clan, all 30 of 'em, already off to bed, just me and a Fernet bidding the holiday farewell.
  9. Lost $10 on the Cowboys to my mother-in-law, who roots for Oakland for Richard Seymour's sake: I gave her 4 TDs. (Actually, I hate Dallas.)
  10. Surprise 4-generation hit of Thanksgiving: Rice Krispie treats (which usually suck) spiked w/ xtra butter & a big hit of sea salt: amazing!
  11. Looking at my sister's very fine Brussels sprouts, remembered I'm also thankful for what Boston chefs have done with them all year long.
  12. Just made Pattaya Punch, which @cocktailvirgin created to win the recent Pol Roger/Chartreuse punch contest at Drink (Boston): a huge hit!
  13. Can't remember the last time I got to a high school football game on Thanksgiving. Those kids: could we ever have been that young?
  14. Thankful for much today, but esp. -- in a country that overvalues bad cheap food -- to live in a city like Boston that has great cheap food.
  15. Yes, if you do say so yourself! RT @LockeOber A visit to Boston without visiting Locke-Ober is like going to Asia & ignoring the Taj Mahal
  16. I'm a big fan of ESK, but it didn't introduce Fernet to the local restaurant industry RT @marlomarketing
  17. In The Phoenix, my review of Chinatown's Vinh-Sun Restaurant & BBQ http://bit.ly/7gLmA1 Good place to get that emergency "Chinese turkey"
  18. Not really: been drinking it at Vittoria for 15 years RT @marlomarketing thank @eskboston & @garrettharker for introducing Fernet to Boston
  19. Who's got the best deal on Fernet-Branca in Boston? My local retailer is up to $35 for a 750ml: glad he stocks it regularly now, but sheesh!
  20. New MC Slim JB blog post, reprinting an article I did on bitters of all kinds way back in April, 2007 http://bit.ly/7yI9Zm @mcslimjb
