  1. w.o.w. RT @maura OH at Target: "Why are there so many CDs here? I don't listen to music on CD. Why does Taylor Swift have so many?"
  2. @ebertchicago No one has called them phonographs for ages now. They're turntables.
  3. Wow--#leaveitinthe00s jumped to the top of Trending Topics in *minutes*.
  4. @mackromackro I've thought "it can't get worse than this year" almost every year since '05, and keep being proven wrong. Hope '10 does.
  5. @mackromackro I'm talking about MJ in his prime, not now.
  6. @mackromackro For ex. Run-D.M.C. were hugely vital in '84, and they only went gold. I'd say jerkin' rap is vital now and it's not that big.
  7. @mackromackro So was Paula Abdul in 1989. Large doesn't equal vital; it's the combo of scale and intensity, with any no. of variables.
  8. @mackromackro Your point about critics as doctors certainly stands, though.
  9. @mackromackro Sure. But there are clearly unavoidable artists who demand attention beyond their lack of avoidability. MJ, Prince, etc.
  10. . . . some obvious broader appeal that people seemed to be missing out on, then I'd be wondering what was up.
  11. @mackromackro For ex., I wouldn't say my liking mmnl techno means everyone else should. It's specialist and that's fine. But if it had . . .
  12. @mackromackro How is it any more ambiguous now than ever? Combo of profile and intensity of interest still seem to be the metrics here.
  13. @mackromackro Still around /= prosperous and vital, though.
  14. hahaha OK I've GOT IT now.
  15. @tromano I've tried it, it doesn't work. I get self-conscious and the through-line goes away completely.
  16. I've talked about it 1,000 times, WHY CAN'T I WRITE IT DOWN LEGIBLY?! Grrrrr.
  17. @katesilver Agreed. Decent but it recedes from memory. Good acting, though.
  18. @jsmooth995 Until I hear a U.S. source confirm it for the U.S. I'm going to presume it's for Down Under only.
  19. @jsmooth995 No. It's just in New Zealand. I fell for it too.
  20. I like what @gemko is doing: counting down his 100 favorite movies of the decade via Twitter. I might do something similar w/music.
