  1. @semanticist Hey, on the plus side, you're already in your house, with supplies of beer. I still have to brave outdoors to get home!
  2. @colinhewitt You're fancying a really hot curry?
  3. @choobs Oh, and I hear rumours you can run Counterstrike under Wine. :)
  4. @choobs It would be highly unusual for me to turn down an offer of beer at, say, Staggs after work one night. :-)
  5. @choobs @mconnell has suggested trying out Netbeans (or another IDE) if Windows is your only real option.
  6. @choobs But, short version, Linux VM is definitely the way forward.
  7. @choobs When I was doing training (and forced to use Windows laptops), we used Instant Rails -- dunno if that's still around/maintained.
  8. @choobs Rails dev is pretty painful on Windows, but apparently it's possible.
  9. @grahamsavage No, observers are synchronous. They're a separation of concerns, not a threading thing. Check out delayed_job for offloading.
  10. @jamie_ca The noreply@ with a Reply-To address is a reasonably good way to get customer feedback while avoiding (inevitable) backscatter.
  11. @nevali Oh, it is *absolutely* the right thing to do, no doubt.
  12. ... which fundamentally messes with this app receiving these sorts of emails...
  13. Web apps (should) send email out from a single address - eg no-reply@getmyshinyapphq.com - not as the user they're sending on behalf of.
  14. Just discovered a show stopping issue in a client app that I should have been able to predict. Feeling a bit stupid.
  15. Applying software updates on 2 of our 3 games consoles. Still, at least I don't have to patch security vulnerabilities on the fridge. Yet.
  16. @entp Is the tender_multipass plugin (not gem) supposed to work? It's encrypting with domain and site key, not API key...
  17. @scotrubyconf (With a client just now, or I'd look into it myself.)
  18. @scotrubyconf Could it be because Slicehost got their entire IP block blacklisted? http://bit.ly/4oYoRj
  19. @alancfrancis Err, thanks, I think?
  20. What films from the last few years are worth watching? I seem to have missed out on cinema lately. Updating my Lovefilm (Netflixish) queue.
