  1. @PreCur @panelpatter Bleach left me cold. FMA, InuYasha, Kekkaishi, and Yakitate!! Japan are better introductions to shonen, IMO.
  2. New blog post: The Real Mermaid Saga http://mangacritic.com/?p=2561
  3. Marine biologists just observed tool-making tendencies in octopi: http://bit.ly/82TfHC. Who knew invertebrates could recycle?
  4. Re-tweet for the AM crowd: Wednesday's new manga plus recommendations: http://bit.ly/6i33O9
  5. New blog post: The Shipping News, 12/16/09 http://mangacritic.com/?p=2553
  6. @PreCur @debaoki Glad to hear I wasn't the only one who found the whole "power over the weather" (or was it seasons?) thing mondo confusing.
  7. @mizzelle That's my biggest gripe about the A la Carte edition. Still, I'm grateful that Viz licensed it, and look forward to Pub Food.
  8. New blog post: Oishinbo A la Carte: Vegetables http://mangacritic.com/?p=2537
  9. @funnypages I don't know--if the reader got really into the Moomin universe, I don't see why not.
  10. @edsizemore @panelpatter Probably more than is seemly for folks our age.
  11. @funnypages That's a great question. I think Moomin works for some middle-schoolers, esp. if they liked the novels.
  12. @PreCur Is it just me, or did that volume remind you of 70s tv? Something about the fact that every story ended w/freeze-frame laugh.
  13. @edsizemore Was thinking of your review when I replied to @funnypages. Your nephew's response led me to include it in the GC4K best-of list.
  14. #mangamonday Oishinbo A la Carte: Vegetables. Stories are good enough to make even the most committed carnivore try turnips and asapragus.
  15. RT @sailorsamus: Want to win a Spice and Wolf novel from Yen? Just tweet w/the hashtag #SpiceandWolf before 5 pm today and you're entered!
  16. @funnypages I think middle schoolers can appreciate My Mommy Is In America--really little kids won't understand what's happening.
  17. New blog post: Sunday Morning Links, 12/13/09 http://mangacritic.com/?p=2534
  18. @funnypages Read the 1st four volumes, and didn't find any objectionable content. It's a little too sophisticated for grade schoolers, tho.
  19. How did the following phrase lead someone to my site: "guy with machine arms rape manga." I shudder to think.
  20. @ext_graphic Thanks for the plug, Sadie!
