  1. realized Chapter 4 needs a flashback scene, dangit. Ah well. Tomorrow.
  2. finished chapter 4 of space opera -- 20,461 words and counting.
  3. had incredible modified monte cristo sandwich for lunch. Two slices bombatoast (http://tinyurl.com/c2bpzk), fill with ham and cheddar. Eat.
  4. just paid $400 to have the capacitor on her AC unit replaced. Sigh. Silly condo buyers, wanting *working* AC...
  5. is very pleased to hear that her friend Ritu (Arora) has secured a visiting prof. gig at UIC. With all the layoffs, nice to hear of a hire!
  6. has Lori and Ursa over, and after forty-five minutes of chatting, is finally settling down to work. Hopefully.
  7. can't sleep. Sigh. Is making bombatoast. http://bit.ly/3CgBpa
  8. having phone conference with thesis student.
  9. cleaned the kitchen, took half an hour, and it looks so! much better. Why didn't do this yesterday morning so we could enjoy it all weekend?
  10. is doing an online chat with her workshop students...
  11. is re-reading Hyperion. Now that's some impressive space opera. Dark, though. Not sure I want to go that dark in mine. Maybe, though.
  12. finished making birthday present for sister -- only about four months late.
  13. writing checks for DesiLit Magazine (issue #5) authors. Always satisfying. :-) http://www.desilit.org/maga...
  14. is having major housing angst. http://bit.ly/13ZH9k
  15. is making her character choose between her family's needs, and helping strangers...shades of the (apocryphal) yellow stars of Denmark.
  16. is waiting for Lori to arrive to help her motivate to start the day's writing. Would rather go look at furniture: http://nadeauimports.com/
  17. is re-reading Heinlein's _The Rolling Stones_, which is just as good as I remembered from twenty years ago. Aaahhh....
  18. had to stop her home inspection partway and reschedule, due mostly to communication difficulties. Argh.
  19. finds writing large dinner party scenes immensely challenging. Why can't her characters just talk to each other in quiet pairs???
  20. notes for the record that her SF story's genetically-engineered cat-man does not, in fact, have a barbed penis. In case you were curious.
