  1. @antrix yes. I'm not against it. I'm surprised WSJ wasn't aware this is common practice in most tech companies.
  2. @pranmaz all offices. I think last year it was just Sunnyvale. This time they're doing it everywhere.
  3. @pranmaz lots of people anyway take vacations during this period and the rest slack off since the others are not there :)
  4. I've no idea why WSJ thinks Y! employees taking mandatory leave for 10 days is news-worthy. It's not like YHOO is powering down its servers.
  5. @codeshepherd Saw your fb msg. I've been busy with work stuff lately. Should be free once the vacation begins. Will ping you soon :)
  6. @bytebot not reciprocal. there are only about a handful of countries (Thailand being one) where Indians get visa-on-arrival.
  7. RT @BlueBoxTraveler: Video from Yahoo!'s last #Hadoop User Group: http://bit.ly/7IKJOc Great session!
  8. back from rumen/mumak talk by @acmurthy - interesting stuff but needs lot more intelligence to be built-in #hadoop #yahoo
  9. @t3rmin4t0r I thought in India we don't have credit histories (unlike America). Your credit-worthiness is determined via your salary?
  10. @kevsmith Congrats! #basho I think now employs almost all of the Erlangers I follow :)
  11. @swaroopch It's very hard to keep getting bigger paychecks yr after yr if you're a 30 yr old programmer. You're expected to become a mgr/MBA
  12. @vyom would it be possible to listen to iTunes radio with Dhun? That would be awesome :)
  13. So Google's #Public #DNS gives special treatment to their CDN but effectively screwed all other CDNs.
  14. Great talk. Applicable to non-Ruby apps too. RT @tmm1: slides from my debugging ruby talk: http://bit.ly/5oCa9h (scribd)
  15. Sat through a talk by Intel folks on Nehalem and their future products. Must play with Intel VTune when I find time.
  16. Singapore's #hackerspace is coming together nice. RT @ruiwen: Scenes from #hackerspacesg - http://is.gd/56TB0 [Flickr Set]
  17. @vyom do blog about your V8 findings. I'm curious too but hate C++.
  18. @antirez it's under a branch called 'kqueue'. my 'master' is the same as the current redis master.
  19. @antrix thanks. usually dysfunctional, lazy IT team surprised me by being quick - it's not a gift, it's a miracle!
  20. finished setting up everything on the new MacBook Pro from work. now I've two Macs!
