  1. @codinghorror That's just the Walmart-inspired soul cancer talking.
  2. RT @Geek2Nurse: wonder if people would look at me strangely if I brought pillow to work? so I don't have to nap on incontinence pads again?
  3. @scifirules The Gattaca TV show thing? You used the wrong tag. That's not #scifi—that's #syfy
  4. @codinghorror FYI, "all dressed up for Walmart" is the new code phrase for hiking the Appalachian Trail. Must stay _current_, Jeeves.
  5. @rasmus Google "geeksquad NYC" They should be able to supply an appropriate powersupply - just make sure they check specs for your model
  6. @octothorpe For elements that have unexpected behaviors, rollover delays should be tailored to produce the best SURPRISE w/o being tedious
  7. @octothorpe Rollover activation delays for common functionality (menus, etc) should be used only to avoid flicker ans should be < ~ 0.6 sec
  8. @octothorpe Mostly have to keep reminding Flash devs that flickery menus look stupid…
  9. @octothorpe Doubt if the beating potential would be confined to any particular geographic locale.
  10. @jkopel Yeah, it was the twit couple at the end who advocated "humanizing" electronic devices by "handicapping" them.

  12. @blankbaby could be a defective magnetic sensor or a slipped magnet. However, only thing that you can do is reset http://tr.I'm/pram_nvram
  13. @dcarli You might be interested in Jan Chipchase's work. He's mobile ethnographer for Nokia janchipchase.com
  14. @octothorpe I like term 'UI dancing'. I agree that's to be avoided; I always recommend delay-before-activate on hover states. Maybe 1 sec?
  15. RT @mala ahhh, San Francisco… http://tr.im/ahhh_sf /via @lizhenry - ENTIRELY sure the author wasn't from Berkeley originally?
  16. @octothorpe I think I'd go for zoom on hover / unzoom on exit as there's no reason to keep it zoomed while buying. Less state mgmt for user
  17. Google AdWords still in amusingly campy steampunk phase - pairs "minimally invasive robotic surgery" ads with search for robot lawnmower
  18. @andybeach Wait a minute - "campy and horrible" implies a bi-axial graph of emotional states. Are you SURE you saw '2012'?
  19. @NathanBowers Logically, there MUST be parties that aren't RavingMonsterLoonieFoodTruck parties. Assholes not extinct yet.
  20. Watching Objectified. Wonderful film, but current chapter marred by a couple of conceptual artist MFAs inexplicably trusted w/ power tools
