  1. Hardest moment is getting out the door, picking up the phone, pressing send, or whatever it is that puts us out there, where we might fail.
  2. The mind is simply an inner empty space with the power of perception. Ergo--we have the power to "perceive" our lives as happy, or not.
  3. Anticipating the worst (as a way of avoiding disappointment) is NOT the same as practicing non-attachment to outcomes (nor does it work!)
  4. Women's marathon was not an official Olympic event until '84. And first medical certification had to prove it was not harmful. Strange.
  5. @lotuslowenstein l'annee prochaine!
  6. It's funny how the world and time can fold back around on itself in new and improved ways, isn't it?
  7. Running doesn't solve everything, how could it? But it can remind us of what freedom feels like, so we can carry that into our day.
  8. Habits of negativity are much stronger than habits of positivity. Our true nature is strong & healthy. Don't let the mind get in the way.
  9. Q? Are women more likely than men to take up a new sport or other activity after the age of 25 than men? Are women more likely "beginners?"
  10. Diluted the self-focus of running by becoming a Girls on the Run Solemate: http://www.girlsontherun.org/solemates.html. Check it out!
  11. magic running shoes: transform a bad day into a good day; frustration into speed; chocolate cake into muscle; self-doubt into confidence
  12. Too often, strong, fast women get left out in the dating cold, so they hold back to please men. That can't be the solution!
  13. Femininity defies definition. It ought to. Same with masculinity. It's all another "-ity" in the big one...humanity.
  14. Hockey + pink=great story. Check it out: http://mrunslikeagirl.blogspot.com/
  15. Outdoors Divas--a women's sports store in Boulder & Denver has this great motto: "Women are not small men". So apt!
  16. Great bumper sticker I saw the other day: Don't believe everything your mind thinks.
  17. So hard to balance confidence in what we "know", with open curiousity in what we don't know--not to mention knowing what we don't know
  18. The second best part about the gorgeous trail running here in CA, is basking on a sunny couch while reading Iris Murdoch's The Bell--love it
  19. @lotuslowenstein moi, je n'aimai pas trop ce livre---very classist and stereotypically implausible.
  20. Saw "In the Loop" last night, if I had three thumbs, I'd give it a three thumbs up. I know, I know, and it's not even Scandinavian :-)
