  1. @macdevnet http://www.dotomator.com/we...
  2. And that I also hope has better grammar than that last tweet.
  3. Just sent an email that I hope doesn't sound to cranky.
  4. Working with Lex and yacc is like playing mastermind. I just keep adjusting my input to see what I can get, the inside is a black box to me.
  5. Any GBCBers taken Tyson's Computational Cell Biology class? Feedback? Warnings?
  6. I wish someone would write "yacc+lex for really stupid people", so that I could read it.
  7. @danielpunkass 3.1 ?
  8. @rob_rix It was terribly slow and buggy for me on 10.4, but with 10.6 it is faster than QS. (at least for me)
  9. @spartanvet I was attending a seminar on phylogenetics.
  10. "When parsimony ceases to be a guideline and is instead elevated to an ex cathedra pronouncement, parsimony analysis ceases to be science."
  11. This talk confirms what I've always thought about phylogenetics. We aren't looking for truth, we're looking for trees with nice structure.
  12. Phylogenetics requires you to use genes which have slow rates of evolution, but those rates are determined by phylogentics. #ChickenAndEgg
  13. What is more likely statistically, that photosynthesis evolved several times independently or that the tree of life is assembled incorrectly
  14. epa guidelines: "Get Vitamin D Safely through a diet that includes vitamin supplements. Don't seek the sun" Don't go outside, take pills!
  15. @culturedcode, what are the chances of Things getting support for sequential projects before my OmniFocus trial runs out in 6 days?
  16. What we need is the phylogenetics version of DREAM http://bit.ly/4oqJ8b
  17. @spartanvet That's the problem. Nearly every phylogen talk I have attended follows this format old way: bad our way: good verification: none
  18. Dear Gracenote cd database submitters, the disk number is not part of the album name.
  19. @spartanvet How can you prove that one phylogenetic assembly technique is better than any other, or better than random.
  20. Another phylogenetics talk today. Wonder if I should ask my standard phylogenetics talk question.
