  1. Are u a knittr who only k's for other people? I know ur out there. Resolve to k something special for yourself in the new year.
  2. Bar inc leave hole? A kf&b variant closes it. Sl1 kw, insert LF ndl into st & k, like 1-st ssk. Keep st on ndl & k st again behind LF leg.
  3. Bar incs (kf&b) near selvages? Adjust placement for balance. Start LF kf&b 1 st earlier than RT's so the bar falls an = # of sts from edge.
  4. Why stair-step ur shoulder BOs? Slope them instead. Don't work last st of row before BO set. Turn. Sl 1st st to RT ndl pw, yb, then psso.
  5. Socks on 2 circs? If circs r of different colors, lengths or types (wood, metal, etc) it's easier to reach for the right 1 when ur working.
  6. The row after a cable twist is full of promise. Decs are well hidden there. And if u can use it to BO, u'll limit cable flare.
  7. Teaching kids to knit? This gift might be loved for a lifetime. A k st rhyme: Under the fence, Catch the sheep, Back we come, Off we leap!
  8. Vertical duplicate st? Bring ndl WS2RS thru st center. *RT2LF under legs of st above, then in old center & out center above. Rep from *.
  9. Horizontal duplicate st? *Run blunt threaded ndl under a st's legs RT2LF, then RT2LF under 2 legs below, offset 1 leg to LF. Rep from *.
  10. Hat yarn a bit too scratchy? Try a bottom hem using a softer yarn for the inside. Switch to the scratchy yarn just B4 the turning row & go.
  11. EPS neck circumference? About 40% of Total Body sts. A final EPS note: Confirm fit early & often. Put sts on waste yarn & try sweater on.
  12. EPS yoke depth? About 50% of body width, but usually no more than 10", measured diagonally from underarm.
  13. EPS underarm sts? About 8% of Total Body sts. If planning a phony seam, round to an odd # so there's a center st.
  14. EPS waist circumference? About 90% of Total Body sts. To snug at the hip, work a rib border with a smaller ndl.
  15. EPS sleeve circumference? About 35-40% Total Body sts. Inc rate from cuff, paired rnd center st(s), determines if tapered or blousy sleeve.
  16. EPS cuff circumference? About 20% of Total Body sts.
  17. EZ's percentage system (EPS) for sweaters? The key # is Total Body sts. Measure the widest part of the chest & multiply by *accurate* gauge.
  18. More CO stretch? German-Twisted sets up like L-T. Go under & pull thumb's RT leg toward u, twisting loop. Reach up & pull finger yarn thru.
  19. Better short row shaping? Sl the 1st st after the short row turn to create a truer wedge.
  20. Chart's st count per row varying? Dark boxes usually stand in for missing sts & keep grid shape uniform. Ignore'em & go to the next real st.
