  1. Last 48 hrs I actually haven't been working on an article, book chapter,or other academic piffle. What is that big yellow thing in the sky?
  2. Another article polished off. Finished. Done. As am I. This article examines religious identity in the borderlands.
  3. A rather pithy alternative title to my 'History of Sewage' lecture that I gave today was suggested by my wife - S*&t happens. Perfect.
  4. Slogging to the finish of another article. Who made the decision to try to do three in one year? Oh, that's right. Me. What an idiot.
  5. @DavidenEspanol Roughly $3000 (but don't quote me on that, as the Office of International Programs has not yet given a final figure).
  6. The OIP has indeed smiled on my proposal - History of Spain and Medieval History in Salamanca next summer -15 students minimum. Sign up now.
  7. Hoping that the Office of International Programs looks smilingly on my proposal to teach History of Spain and Medieval History in Salamanca.
  8. Feeling weary. Sick to death of purists and all those who are utterly convinced that their position is the only 'correct' one. Bleh.
  9. Working on my International Week lecture - the History of Sewage! Should be a hoot. I will be examining ancient and medieval sewers, etc.
  10. The editors have spoken, my Ladner article needs only a bit of work to be a finished product - mostly minor stylistic and grammatical stuff.
  11. I think the chair of the department is trying to kill me. My schedule for next semester - 6 classes! LOL. Have to rib him about that.
  12. @DavidenEspanol What??? This is an outrage. All kidding aside, you are going to miss a great class on the History of Ancient Rome.
  13. I finalized my merit folder today. This is clearly the kind of excitement they never told us about in grad school.
  14. UTPA will be bringing 'The History of Ancient Rome' back out of mothballs, and I get the first crack at it for Spring term 2010. I am geeked.
  15. Exams graded and recorded. Invitation letters for panel at Festiba sent. Revision of one dissertation chapter for book proposal underway.
  16. Grading and recording 320 exams this weekend. Fun times!
  17. @DavidenEspanol Even Gandhi lost his patience every now and then, and even acted badly. You are in good company.
  18. I will be showing Scorsese's "The Last Temptation of Christ", at next week's History Club Movie Night. SBSC 101, 7:00pm. Should be a hoot.
  19. Revising the article. Ugh. I continue to have profound respect for editors (a good one is invaluable), but the process is not loads of fun.
  20. Continuing to work on the book proposal. Who could have guessed it would be so much fun?
