  1. @psnively But Mormon elite sacrificed ancient marriage structure to survive Republican persecution (and consolidate power.) For example.
  2. @wchogg If you're in a school environment, it might be a good deal harder.
  3. @dtatusko The notion that academic degrees are paths to careers in the areas of study doesn't match most of what I see.
  4. @cratylus Mainly because I'm moving clear across America. This is a good time to make it better fit my actual use.
  5. @psnively The idea that an IDE would have such power, or even facilitate the work, shocks me.
  6. Thirty years of building my library is not easy to reverse. On the whole it's the right choice, but I find it emotionally fatiguing to cull.
  7. RT @GreatDismal: My inner scooter mod just loves this http://bit.ly/6RDyIL Rockers? Not a problem!
  8. @unclebobmartin I enjoy that solution. The fact that various solutions may be produced shows that design is independent of the tests.
  9. @bos31337 Why does your project involve the internals of R? Are you making a customized API?
  10. @unigee I love the x u&v y form. It's a lot like a fork.
  11. @unigee -. is similar to subtraction. So: (i.1e5) excluding (i.1e4)
  12. @LauJensen I recommend you follow @unigee because he posts J on Twitter and we have discussions you may want to see.
  13. @unigee Basic idea is 'remove i. y from i. x' Look up u&v form for &
  14. @DianaOfPortland I don't think it's just practice. Deep difference between judgemental and non-judgemental attitudes is a big deal.
  15. @unigee My approach: 67= +/ 13 = 2(}.R % {.R)"1 digits 1e5 -.&i. 1e4 NB. (R=: 10&#.@:) (digits=: 10&#.^:_1)
  16. @Sadache Yeah, I've heard such advice from others, e.g. @conal. Not working with any type theory makes this harder.
  17. @Sadache Since I don't have continuations available in J, I'm seeing what I can do without them. That's all.
  18. @Sadache Example at haskell.org all-about used 'mplus' on results of 2 db lookups. Empty-list handling in J would suffice.
  19. @Sadache But, yes, didn't need continuations or state. Thanks again.
  20. @Sadache I got a lot of satisfaction coding a quick Maybe monad (at least I think I pulled it off) but seems like overkill for the examples.
