  1. FedEx dropped off my copy of our newest book, "The New Community Rules." Looks great -- kudos to @tamar & @akacolleen. http://bit.ly/oAhg3
  2. Amazon needs 2 add a "memory low" warning on the Kindle. I just found an email msg from them ystrday telling me they couldn't download 2 me!
  3. @kindleworld The Kindle uses flash memory.
  4. @mikeloukides I figure the content should be compressed in both locations (main memory vs. SD card). Indiv. file sizes are same in both.
  5. My Kindle says there's no main memory left, so I move 70Meg of books to SD card. Kindle only shows 28Meg free now. 70 = 28? Huh?!
  6. I'll never buy another Compaq computer. Our home PC just died again & it looks like same HD failure as before. It's less than 1 year old.
  7. @markrevans My pleasure. I don't claim to have all the answers and it's fun talking it through with the community.
  8. #followreader Great conversation! I have to sign off for now but I'll be sure to check back in later to add my two cents.
  9. @KatMeyer Yes, my beef always has to do w/ indentation. There's nothing more annoying than half-blank screens & wasted space! #followreader
  10. @pussreboots Good point. I'd say the ones I know aren't reading books, but they're reading shorter-form content on phones. #followreader
  11. @zumayabooks Absolutely. O'Reilly didn't invent the DRM-free world...we're just fully leveraging it! ;-) #followreader
  12. @maggiedana It's smashwords.com, Mark Coker's company. #followreader
  13. @KatMeyer No, I've never seen anyone under 30 with a Kindle or Sony Reader. They're already onto smaller devices (phones). #followreader
  14. @markcoker Smashwords is *definitely* a model everyone on this list should study. #followreader
  15. RT @npilon: #followreader Also: lifetime download. Buy an O'Reilly eBook, download as much as you want. No "limited downloads" nonsense!
  16. RT @yodiwan: I bought a Kindle, but only after iPhone came out w/Kindle app. Of course, now I nevr use Kindle app. Go figure. #followreader
  17. @markrevans Why can't you make a profit selling DRM-free? O'Reilly does. #followreader
  18. @zumayabooks We're DRM-free at O'Reilly and I know our customers love us more because of that. #followreader
  19. @KatMeyer Bundles are the best option given all the platforms. You get all formats in one simple transaction. #followreader
  20. @jillmwo Loving your TSA and DRM analogy. That's *perfect*! It is indeed all about a false sense of security. #followreader
