  1. Eating at Chez Guy in Gevrey Chambertin. Exceptional special game menu. Current dish is a warm mallard pate yum yum yum
  2. @jamiegoode burgundy, bien sur! http://myloc.me/1ej0I
  3. first day of trip to taste 2008s - so far tasting whites which look good. Flesh of 06 acidity of 07 but quite different character to either!
  4. Completely shattered after digging out the troots of a dead birch tree. However a bottle of Clos Vougeot 1983 was sensational compensation.
  5. Have just thinned the crop on the quince trees. The quinces are turning yellow and should be ready to start picking in a fortnight or so.
  6. Grape picking all over in Burgundy but the walnuts are starting to fall from the old trees. The young ones with bigger nuts arent ready yet.
  7. Didier Picq took me on a quick vineyard tour. He stopped sun and mon after showers but now picking again. Decent sugar, perfect acid balance
  8. Chablis in full swing on a most beautiful autumn morning - season of mists and mellow fruitfulness
  9. A wet weekend but a good forecast for this week - everybody finished except Ponsot who starts today! I might take a look at Chablis tomorrow
  10. Fine & sunny now after a cool grey week - and harvest is nearly over, even Cote de Nuits. Most people finished, Clos de Tart just starting
  11. Disaster, now averted - my blackberry gave up the ghost this morning, but it has now been revived and taken off the critical list
  12. David Croix a bit fragile after end of harvest party last night. Three new vineyards this year, Aloxe Corton and 2 Corton grands crus
  13. Touch of drizzle yesterday afternoon and cool and grey today. Not so much fun for the pickers but no problems for grape quality
  14. Lafon will finish this p.m. with Monthelie Duresses. Reds look rich and exciting, whites perfectly balanced, 13 to 13.5 deg + vg acidity
  15. Lots of hooting in the street - the signal that a domaine has just finished its harvest and everybody is off for a large lunch
  16. David Clark has just picked the new last year Vosne vineyard. Fully ripe but good acidity and enough for 3+ barrels
  17. Sunday was beautiful though clouds rolled in on Monday with the odd shower. Cool and clear this morning - about to see whats up in the vines
  18. Fred Mugnier thinks the grapes are much better than 99. Excitement indeed. Hands too sticky to tweet further (grape juice!)
  19. Same happy story everywhere in the Cote de Nuits. Rion, roumier, Rossignol Trapet, Bachelet started today. Lambrays just finishing
  20. Joined in on the sorting table at Comte Armand. Young vines of Clos des Epeneaux. But hardly anything needs sorting !
