  3. Knocked together a proof of concept LinkedIn App: http://linkedin.heroku.com/ Based on @mbleigh's awesome twitter-auth gem and app template.
  4. @ollieparsley http://hootware.com is looking great!
  5. @pperrin Absolutely! Just makes me sad when freelancers undervalue themselves to the point of working harder and earning less than a permi.
  6. @rosiesherry There is value but you need to be able to afford to give it. e.g. You can afford to give the cash equivalent of the discount.
  7. @pperrin That sounds high risk to me. Too many freelancers fail to include a good pension, life insurance and savings in their outgoings.
  8. @pperrin Nothing. It is my opinion that someone that does something professionally is someone that sustainably earns what they are worth.
  9. @erocdrahs No. They should be able to take home the same as an employed equivalent in worst case scenario. Any extra is reward for risk.
  10. LinkedIn is finally opening up their API. This is very good news! :)
  11. @MoseleyExchange Thanks for the retweet but why change my "more than 1/3" to "less than 1/3"? If less the day rate is not the problem.
  12. @binarytales I think it is open to all. I'm probably not going to make it though :(
  13. @binarytales /3 because: a) Averaging 1 in 3 working days billable is realistic even in bad times b) You buy your own equipment and benefits
  14. @joshr Not sure. I've not done that kind of work before so don't know costs. I will say this though: Contracting != Freelancing
  15. I am yet to meet a freelancer that doesn't deserve to be earning considerably more than the national average salary.
  16. (230 working days per year. * £250) / 3 = £19K salary < UK average. If more than 1/3 of your time is billable you should be charging more.
  17. A thought for National Freelancers Day. If you freelance for less than £250 per day *even for best friends* you are not a professional.
  18. RT @davestone: #reading @mikekarnj If I Started an Investment Fund http://bit.ly/8WNjUk (via @tdavidson) my recent thinking has been similar
  19. Likes the look of the Website Owners Manual by Paul Boag - http://bit.ly/284ei - an extremely useful book! (via @ckorhonen)
  20. RT @rem: @ribotminimus spot on, and that's testament to your company :)
