  1. @melcaylo - I've got a few friends who're major league into it, and I keep meaning to watch it when it comes out on DVD.
  2. GaaaaAAH. Had a bunch of friends in one place to sign a card for a guy, and I forgot about it.
  3. Heading out for the night. l8er sk8ers.
  4. Say, AV Club forgot Scott Pilgrim too, didn't they?
  5. Restless and useless today. Overcast skies aren't helping.
  6. @harrymylandIV - Just watched it. Suuuuuper brilliant.
  7. AV Club's Best Comics list is missing Casanova and Pluto, but I ain't mad at them.
  8. Going back to One Piece: http://bit.ly/543awu Omnibus of the first three volumes...wannnnnnt ((have them already, but waaaaaaaannnnnnt)
  9. A group of Trekkies doing the same tends towards hermetic broken record bullshit.
  10. I'll throw this example out there: a group of people talking about Star Trek can be fun and interesting.
  11. @Groonk - Put it this way: a group of people talking about Star Trek can be fun. A group of Trekkies tends to be hermetic bullshit.
  12. Or rather, what's acceptable to like among those who like that thing.
  13. Put another way: I'm all about people's individual passions for the aspects of a thing, as opposed to an agreed upon canon of what's good.
  14. @Groonk - I'm not, though. I'm saying I'm all about people loving things, to whatever extreme, as long as it's individually.
  15. @harrymylandIV - Hey, I love One Piece, but I've absolutely no connection with whatever fandom for it exists over here.
  16. Which leads to, at worst, mob rule on dissenting ideas, and at best, really annoying dismissive prissiness to them.
  17. Identifying yourself with a fandom just seems like "hey, I want to trade my opinion for a consensus, because I'm afraid of being alone".
  18. I dunno...I love when people are passionate about a thing, but I increasingly can't stand fans.
  19. @leighwalton - Well, either your house has developed spatial anomalies like the Navidson house, or gremlins are involved.
  20. @XanderBennett - I feel like Hemingway was a massively underrated pop singer.
