  1. Bracing for a noisy Bastille Day. Even going to brave the crowds for a picnic later, though far from the Eiffel Tower.
  2. @spectatrix Just make sure your brain is clear about which of them is Back From The Dead.
  3. My MacBook Pro and my Internet connection have returned to health. I'd cheer, but I've (mostly) lost my voice. You win some, you lose some.
  4. Back on the continent (and Orange FR) but still about an hour from home and cat. Got a voicemail saying my MacBook Pro is fixed too.
  5. Spent the last day of my British vacation sick in bed. Looking forward to going home to Paris tomorrow.
  6. @adewalton Actually the rain is quite welcome after the heat wave in London! Today: Ffestiniog Railway and Portmeirion.
  7. On the train from Birmingham to Porthmadog in Wales. Appropriately gray sky and rain. Enjoying the bilingual (English/Welsh) signs.
  8. Having a beer with @bsag at The Anchor in Birmingham.
  9. Now in Birmingham, wathching Superman Returns on BBC 3. Hanging out with friends tomorrow.
  10. In response to various inquiries: Shakespeare was As You Like It. Tap was amazing (Hello Wimbledon!). McKellan and Stewart also rocked hard!
  11. Waiting for Waiting for Godot. Ian McKellan & Patrick Stewart (ex-X-Men) on stage in a small, beautiful theatre.
  12. Wembly Arena starting to fill up. Very polite crowd. Spinal Tap T-shirt purchased and on. Soon to take the stage: The Folksmen!
  13. Last night: Shakespeare at the Globe. Tonight: Spinal Tap at Wembley Arena. We do enjoy variety.
  14. On the Eurostar to London, about to enter the Chunnel.
  15. Crossed off my 2009 to do list: meet @davidlebovitz. (Got brownies too!). Now to see if I can solve his weird Photoshop Elements problem.
  16. @scstrr Yeah, I think I'm going to install myself at a library with free Wi-Fi for the day tomorrow. Gah.
  17. Bright spot: iPhone 3.0 tethering works. Less than bright: sweating every MB of data against 200 MB monthly allotment.
  18. Computer in shop. Home internet connection and telephone out until probably 7/7. Very unhappy.
  19. At La Fée Verte for a nice midafternoon absinthe.
  20. Surreal to see people in modern Red Cross uniforms next to people in Templar costumes in Provins. Bonus: rose ice cream.
