  1. At Farm last night. From cocktail list: "Industry Negroni - Saphire Gin, Vya, FERNET and orange" awesome. When I start drinking again...
  2. Oh joy - more rain. This vintage just passed 1998 in terms of suckiness from a difficulty perspective. So far it's not 2000, or 1989 - yet.
  3. What? More rain, drizzle? Where is the dry NE wind I need? I can hear the Botrytis sporulating! Well my harvest isn't totally f***ed yet.
  4. Spammer hijack Tish's twitter account?
  5. 10 deg warmer @ the vineyard than in Sonoma this morning. Unusual. Pinot 115 still 4-5 days away.
  6. Lovely new smoorh surface on Hwy. 12 Glen Ellen through Oakmont. Great fermetation aromas coming from Kunde/Deerfield
  7. Picking our first grapes of the 2009 vintage. "Release the hounds!" - M. Burns
  8. @PaxWine Glad to hear your fruit is not wet. Forecast calls for 1/4-inch Monday. Makes things interesting!
  9. Like every other winemaker around Sonoma this morning: "Wha?!! Thunder? Lightning? Rain?!! HAIL?!!!!"
  10. People watching in Marin is fundamentally different than people watching in Sonoma. Um... duh, I guess.
  11. @kimficera Thanks for the follow Kim! Didn' t know you were on.
  12. @cosmiclagoon Swimmingly! Life is sweet.
  13. @bfernald harvest still a month away. You guys need to come up during, to get the Pinot clonal experience.
  14. ...I love my job. All barrels pushed clean. For those for whom "unfined & unfiltered" means something, this will be a very clear wine.
  15. Pushing the 2007 Estate Pinot out of bbls to tank ATTm. Aromas over the top of the tank so good I got tears and chills. Times like this...
  16. Another hot one today - my grapes need it.Finished the 06 redFOUR blend today - so much more complex and elegant than the 05. Smokin!
  17. Starting to move wines today for next Thu-Fri bottling. STILL waiting for 100% veraison in Pinot, any at all in Counoise. 2009 = good acids?
  18. Busy day ahead! New logistical complications for bottling and harvest to deal with. And folks are starting to commit to buying grapes - late
  19. On the whole, I have had better days.
  20. Looking into bottling without sulfur dioxide additions on some reds. Need to develop an assay for phenolic oxygen capacity to make it work.
