  1. Interesting factoid: my social media partic/consump (Twitter, Friendfeed, FB, LinkedIn) has shown dramatic update in past 14 mos. Quadrupled
  2. @jschneider Its *licensing*. Ebooks are a licensed content model; publishers need to use the correct vocabulary when talking to consumers.
  3. @Maxine_Clarke I think that is true of publishing across many sectors (trade, scholarly, etc.)
  4. @Maxine_Clarke I think it is the idea that publishing needs to figure out better ways of supporting exchange in constant flow of sharing
  5. Publishing will have to change rather than print have to die. See http://bit.ly/GiC6C for
  6. Print is not dead. Has to share the space rather than dominate it --> Room for industry expansion @librarythingtim @rtennant @griffey
  7. #followreader Books that start out as series of blog entries can help in non-fiction acq and marketing. Fiction is still problematic
  8. @charabbott #followreader but if use crowdsourcing filter out the bad stuff before acquiring, that would address mktg concerns. Blogs help!
  9. @bravestface #followreader I still want PDF for docs and non-proprietary texts for easy reading on Kindle, other ereaders.
  10. #followreader @charabbott what adds to ebk costs? Should it be a simple production formatting for emanuscript?
  11. #followreader searchability and highlight or annotation functionality is important in eversions. Reader software must improve for $ to rise
  12. #followreader I think price of ebook should be 1/3 of the full price hc *unless* you give me something more in e than in hc
  13. @markrevans #followreader I dont' get to DO as much w/ ebook as I get to do with print and that means the value is less.
  14. @markrevans #followreader Prices can go up if the content gets enhanced. But otherwise ebook pricing must be less
  15. @susanmpls #followreader misdirected tweet. Google book content largely older, dated. Long Tail demand; not high volume
  16. @markrevans #followreader. Kindle handles PDF but like Sony imperfectly. I think ereaders should honor that format. personal irritation
  17. @hmccormack #followreader Too much of what is in Google Books is dated. Not surprising low volume sales. Long tail demand.
  18. @ftoolan #followreader I wish my Kindle could handle the PDF file format. It's problematic but I *like* PDF. Legibility guaranteed.
  19. @susanmpls #followreader Because I will know if the full price is worth it and if I spent a trifling amt for ebook, not as big an issue
  20. #followreader Publishing ebook simult with hc gives me choice; buy cheap eversion first (9.99) then if like alot, buy the hc for full price
