  13. had a great dinner at a restaurant near the Piazza del Popolo. Took it as a good sign that we were the only non-Italians in the place.
  14. also enjoyed the Galleria Borghese, especially the frescoes and the Bernini sculptures. Amazing.
  15. took a walking tour of Rome highlights, including the Pantheon (wow); also visited St. Peter's Basilica at the Vatican (wow again).
  16. arrived in Rome this morning and checked into our hotel. Did some walking around and visited the Colosseum.
  17. toured the ruins of Pompeii today. Our cruise ends in Civitavecchia tomorrow morning, then we have a couple days in Rome on our own.
  18. last night met up with some folks from the GLBT get-togethers, and we pretty much made it de facto gay night at the ship's nightclub. Fun!
  19. said a sad goodbye (but "until next time," 'cause we'll be back someday!) to Greece. Today at sea; next few days: Naples/Pompeii and Rome.
  20. Yesterday in Santorini: walked around Fira then had baklava, ice cream, and Greek coffee at a cafe overlooking the Aegean. This is the life!
