  1. Researching RAW workflows for 7D & 18-135. Seems no acceptable way to work DPP's vignetting/CA/distortion correction into Lightroom workflow
  2. My flat's water heater has decided to go on strike. Cold showers in Australian summer: refreshing. Cold showers in English winter: crushing.
  3. Taking photos is the easy part, it's the processing that kills you. After 11 weeks my 7-day Barcelona trip photos are up http://bit.ly/Sc7Gy
  4. Digging new twitter lists feature so far. Maps to my mental model of contacts. For some groups I DO need to see each tweet. Some not so much
  5. Saw 9-piece band play DJ Shadow's 'Endtroducing', an entirely sampled album, LIVE at Camden Jazz Café http://bit.ly/2dxfEV surprisingly good
  6. @codinghorror IMO significant new features risk altering a community's tone for worse. You or @spolsky worried Careers may hurt SO? #podcast
  7. Researching tax & legal aspects of an idea. All advice is neutered with "IANAL" or "get a lawyer". Seems we're more law-fearing than abiding
  8. -1 for people who walk or stand dead centre in narrow paths (between 1.5 and 5 ppl wide) such as escalators, travelators, stairs & sidewalks
  9. Back in UK. Sleepless flight, weary. Return leg hilight: flying over Greenland. Lowlight: looks like 2.5 hours from clearing customs to home
  10. So used to "heathrow" contingency planning that I arrived at YVR hours early. Squeezed in skype video chat using netbook & free airport wifi
  11. Breakfast in diner. Walked the bridge to Granville public market. Bought some gloves in MEC, one of my few 'must see' shops. Now YVR for LHR
  12. Rain tested new MEC jacket on walk along the stanley park seawall with bird biologist Allison. Saw harbour seals & bald eagle eating a gull.
  13. Killing another gray Vancouver day. Walking the seawall round Stanley park, painted (ever)green, orange & occasionally crimson by 'fall'
  14. Got up early-ish (unbeleivable). Made it to MEC and bought a winter jacket. Met up with allison from HK for breakfast & a hike to Lynn peak.
  15. Walked through Granville island & onto mountain equipment co-op (closed). Vancouver loves sushi (best is 'B.C. roll': wild BBQ salmon maki).
  16. Spent the morning discovering Vancouver florists don't work Canadian thankgiving Sunday. Flowers didn't survive 'sea bus' ride to north van
  17. Arrived in Vancouver. Found my hotel. No dramas. Time to sleep
  18. I could maybe take airport duty free seriously in ye olde "no price-checking on iPhone" days. But 4Gb CF cards @ 3x amazon price? Hillarious
  19. Finally caught a whole show at the globe: New World, story of Thomas Paine. Three hours, great story, great venue, 3m from stage & only £5!
  20. That's it outlook! Checking email's tiresome enough without your endless mid-sync hanging & crashing. Queue Thunderbird & its lazy IMAP sync
