  4. Spent a few hrs recently looking into character set issues in Asia. Government documents, signatures, healthcare records...wow-big issue!

  7. Changing internal processes in a large organization takes copious time. Custom tools are really useful...when people use them.

  19. Solaris/Java was winning combo - drove hdw sales. IBM's Linux/Eclipse strat seems to have worked rather well. Sun's Q4 y/y sales down $1B.
