  1. Spatial Relations: Ever move a camera five feet and spend hours trying to fix the lighting, height, etc...? This is why I ignore sports.
  2. Advice: New York's great advantage for news, video, broadcast, is that there are so many people here one can ask for help, face-to-face.
  3. Inspiring: NYPL's orientation for a $15k start-up contest on Sat. People were not all slick and polished, they just had guts and dreams.
  4. Talk: Someone once pushed for me to host a news/talk show. Absurd at the time, but after a field interview yesterday, she's probably right.
  5. Processing Power: The simple fact is I don't have enough of it. Nothing I need is hard, I just need faster machines. <<Double groan>>
  6. The Laid Off: Watched a friend walk up to her old boss's boss in Starbucks, ask him to buy her a coffee. She's poor now. Good show Karen!
  7. Halls Cough Drops: They seem to help with this whole, my-voice-is-gone-because-I'm-talking-so-much thing. But they turn my lips bright red.
  8. The Tally Lamp: The whole trick seems to be learning to act the same with the camera on as with it off. So in the end, do nothing different.
  9. Like A Duck: I sound like Donald. My throat sears, muscles ache. I sniffle. I'm researching media stories, but want to crawl into a hole.
  10. On Camera: Loosening up before filming, now that's harder work than the filming.
  11. Hot Mics: I was taught a lesson about these while shooting some footage this summer. Yesterday, I learned about "cold mics": Plug them in.
  12. The Studio, in operation: It's. Just. Cool.
  13. The Impossible: I'm trying it to do it. This week I feel it, but that's ok, one thing I have in spades is the unerring belief that I can.
  14. Yes, Virginia: Starbucks is Christmas.
  15. Greenpeace: Guy tried to "conform" me yesterday, he said the Earth's dying. I said, two words: Interstellar travel. Most fun/all week.
  16. Starbucks, NYC: Sit in the 'bucks for an hour and listen to the NDAs get blown over cutting edge business convos, some's hot/some's not.
  17. Punch List: Think I should launch soon? <Smile>, me too. An honor and a privilege folks, have a good weekend.
  18. B&H: Always seem to be going there, worst thing is when I pick up something and it turns out it doesn't work me, sending me back!
  19. A Parental Win: Writing a contract, I realized, in the end, my parents won, and I suppose I'm now practicing law while still a journalist.
  20. Haircuts: I can see this whole "ready for air" thing is expensive. Maybe I should get a Flowbee.
