  1. @Earthnik Scientific American article needs to be part of core argument describing changes needed in US food system.
  2. @derekbalsley Article is from the editors of Scientific American...not just "an opinion", but keep throwing your #FUD. We're used to it.
  3. @derekbalsley I have 120 Nobel laureates. What's in your hand, other than "product defense" tactics of fear, uncertainty and doubt? #FUD
  4. @derekbalsley Not liking convincing evidence re: independent research on #GMO? Comes from pub that 120 Nobel laureates have written for...
  5. @natejtaylor Its called #GMO patent protection and serious, well-funded threats of litigation. In such cases, control is easy.
  6. @Shoo_B Weak. If #GMO is "in" a product, then tell me how is it not an ingredient?
  7. @yourlocalfoods Hope your following my tweets on independent #GMO research. Great stuff @DerekBalsley has no interest in acknowledging.
  8. @leezukor "...things aren't quite working out"? We should catch up soon, as I'm curious what that is referring to...
  9. @NateJTaylor Hope my last couple tweets effectively respond to your question re: independent research of #GMO
  10. "no truly independent research can be legally conducted on many critical questions regarding the (#GMO) technology" http://bit.ly/x0UNn
  11. @natejtaylor According to Scientific American, only studies that seed cos. have approved ever see light of peer-reviewed journal --Not right
  12. @natejtaylor For decade Monsanto, Pioneer and Syngenta user agreements explicitly forbid use of #GMO seeds for any independent research
  13. @docsconz See your point and agree that its too bad about Vioxx side effects.
  14. @natejtaylor Given agritech companies "veto power over the work of independent researchers", I doubt we see many independent #GMO studies.
  15. @nycUlla Independent research AND govt use of its findings v. product defense/industry-funded PR "research" is needed throughout food biz
  16. @docsconz Unfortunately, a disturbing number of Vioxx users aren't here to share their stories. Loses that could have been avoided!
  17. @natejtaylor Sure...as soon as independent #GMO research (none funded by industry) is what is used by USDA, FDA, etc.
  18. FDA scientists estimate that Vioxx caused a total of 88-139,000 heart attacks. Makes it tough to trust industry-funded research.
  19. Vioxx: great example of product defense consults keeping product on market (3 years) despite clear evidence re: heart attack risk.
  20. @OliverRanch UW is a great school! Unfortunately I don't know a soul there anymore. Best of luck!
