  2. Expedition to Boston destructive to pocketbook (or charge card) but with prospect of second(?)-hand Telecaster on January 1 for @gaskellleo.
  3. A day of reading: David Armitage's "Declaration of Independence" straight through.
  4. Last seminar of the semester tomorrow.
  5. There's nothing like cutting firewood to make you feel virtuous. I cut and split lots today, so I'm extra smug.
  6. Just back from Amherst where Thanksgiving was as joyful as ever. Also visited the Smith College Museum of Art: recommended.
  7. Pumkin pies just out of the oven.
  8. Sickness strikes the household of our Thanksgiving hosts, but bubonic plague won't keep us away.
  9. Out to Cohasset today. The full-size template for the Minot lighthouse, so that the granite blocks could be hewn accurately, is wonderful.
  10. Home after travels to Indiana and Alabama. Great hospitality, conversations, art, and food. Also Moundville: a knock-out.
  11. I find myself in Birmingham, Alabama, strange to say, gearing up to lecture tomorrow at UAB. Nice to be met at the airport.
  12. Everyone should go to Indianapolis to see the brilliant Ronda Kasl's show at the IMA, "Sacred Spain: Art and Belief in the Spanish World."
  13. is getting ready for a visit to Indianapolis tomorrow to hold a public conversation on Sunday at the art museum with David Morgan of Duke.
  14. spent Veterans Day writing lectures. Gotta be done.
  15. Lunch with friends in Harvard Square today: should do it more often.
  16. Listening to Baby Dee at the suggestion of @sxipshirey. Recommended.

  18. spent today with art collectors who constitute a museum advisory committee. Happily, an old UK economist friend is making a visit overnight.
  19. is just back from dinner following Orhan Pamuk's last Norton Lecture. He held his audience to the last.
  20. was writing a lecture all day. Eugeniusz Kazimirowski (Polish painter) is still swirling in my brain.
