@ ...Having said that, your best bet is prolly to sync to Google Calendar & Google Contacts over-the-air. Simplest solution AFAIK.

@ My understanding is that it should sync to Windows Mail contacts automagically. Is there no option on the 'Info' tab in iTunes? ...

@ iPhone syncs via iTunes, Outlook via ActiveSync. You're comparing apples & goats. ;-)

@ If you tick the checkbox in iTunes to sync contacts, then yes, each sync backs them up. If not, then not.
