  1. Never had a post of mine passed around on Twitter before! Thanks @penny_dr3adful, I really liked being described as pitch perfect!
  2. 1st years were being bratty in labs today. Primary school crowd management worked about as well as yelling at them, but they're on warning
  3. @penny_dr3adful from the party? Was that ever a high concentration of eminently crushable women! Hope you guess right
  4. Back safe though late from wonderful London weekend: housewarming full of lovely people then quiet Sunday of friends + conversation
  5. Heading into London for the exciting housewarming, hopefully full of lovely people
  6. Spent too much of today on a fruitless quest for eee power adapter, but found a workround in the form of a 70p converter + some fiddling
  7. Not a good start: broke the earth pin of my Eee power adapter! Any ideas what kind of shop could replace it in a hurry?
  8. Absolutely filthy weather for bonfire night. Worth getting wet for half price Ben&Jerrys, but I'm watching rest of explosions from indoors
  9. Morbid interfaith event was worthwhile and good from a visibility perspective at least. Now psyching myself up to go out again in the rain.
  10. Glowing autumn moon, the sort to inspire haiku. Sadly I can't write. #haiku
  11. @song_in_heart does it make more sense if you assume he means menorah or candelabrum? Though with Rev it's not always a translation problem!
  12. Spent the evening pretending to be a philospher on brother's behalf. All that RaceFail stuff came in useful!
  13. Having way too much fun collecting my own blood for microscopy and analysis; students get a turn next week
  14. Immunology is hard, guys! Especially given how wide a range there is in student levels of background knowledge.
  15. They do penny-for-the-guy round here; my first reaction is horror at children begging, then I realize, oh right, quaint English custom.
  16. @niallharrison I just dl'd Ubertwitter which is adware but seems convenient so far. More choice if you're prepared to pay
  17. Installed in my new (shared) office at the labs, with baby computer happily cuddling up to the ethernet. Progress!
  18. #having @j4's excellent lentil curry for supper. Lucky I kept the scrap with recipe & the ethnic store across the road sells mustard seeds
  19. Yay lovely Beau dragging me out of the house to enjoy the last little bit of daylight! http://myloc.me/1iagp
  20. First paycheque: they paid gross instead of expected emergency tax code. More £ than when I was paid every 2 months in previous job!
