  1. Sherlock Holmes & the Saline Solution: wacky & fun show by the young US trio Sound & Fury. Entertaining & lots of audience participation ***
  2. The Timekeepers: gay man & Jewish man bond in concentration camp drama - thought provoking with good humour & well acted. ***
  3. White Tea: an intense tale set in Japan; well acted; paper kimonos & tea for the audience; staged in the smallest space at Assembly. ****
  4. A Life in 3 Acts: the final in this trilogy found Bette Bourne on great form, improvising & singing while telling his life story. Fab! ****
  5. A Life in 3 Acts: second act in Bette Bourne's fascinating life, this act focuses on 1970s gay lib & life in a commune. A real treat! ****
  6. Doctor Whom? My Search for Samuel Johnson: David Benson offers his personal selection of quotes from his hero, the dictionary author. ***
  7. My Darling Clemmie: a poignant and evocative account of married life with Winston Churchill. A sound one woman show but lacked bite. ***
  8. Cocorico: fantastic French mime & music show, brilliantly performed by this talented duo. Surely one of the best shows on the fringe? *****
  9. My Queer Valentine: 12 gay themed songs performed with panache by singer Rick Lau - he entertained, amused & charmed us all. ****
  10. A Life in Three Acts: Bette Bourne's early life revealed in conversation with playwright Mark Ravenhill. Fascinating & delightful too! ****
  11. Korea @ the Fringe: this afternoon saw a charming extract of music theatre + a Korean buffet too - rather tricky for the veggies among us!
  12. Theatre of the Widdershins - Rapunzel & the Tower of Doom: fun children's show with great props & plenty for the adults to enjoy too! ****
  13. After an 'early' start at the Visiting Arts meeting, three shows & a visit from my father, now enjoying a 'well-earned' pint in the Bow Bar!
  14. Lola: telling the life of the world's first 'celebrity' woman, this show from Trestle failed to work for me despite strong music & dance. **
  15. You Fancy Yourself: a humorous tale of a young migrant arriving in 1950s Scotland, a tour de force performance in this one woman show. ****
  16. Fhlip Fhlop: fantasic physical theatre that appeals to all ages. It's fun, fast & the first 5 star show for me at this year's fringe! *****
  17. Flamenco Jazz: great late night performance, Flamenco inspired music fused with Brazilian & hip hop styles + stunning Flamenco dancer. ****
  18. Stand by your Van: a parody of a US TV game show where contestants compete to win a truck. Daft, mildly amusing but too long at 80 mins. **
  19. Luke Wright: mid 20s poet navel gazes at his 10-year career. Funny, self deprecating and charming, plus he is coming to Corsham in Oct! ****
  20. King of the Gypsies: powerful one man performance about the prejudices faced by Romanies over generations & still today in Britain. ****
