  1. after the past week of rain, today I weeded between veggie beds, hacked down neighbours' choko vines invading our passionfruit and mulched
  2. planted a punnet of bok choy and replaced dead bean plants with apple cucumbers. Watching tomato and lettuce seedlings emerge
  3. only veggies worth harvesting at the moment are one giant zucchini, one cucumber, lotsa basil and a heap of rocket. New toms doing well.
  4. @plangarden we use mostly tiny, some fridge and an 'other' which is yum: tomatoes and strawbs from the shop taste horrible, home grown r yum
  5. cooking tomato glut into giant tomato sauce to smother meat balls
  6. rejoicing at the sound of rain trickling into the water tanks
  7. eureka! found three tomato seedlings I had failed to weed from the garden, all survived the heat and are now planted in veggie patch
  8. even though tomato plants basically dead, managed to take a whole colander full off the plants before declaring the glut 'over'
  9. pulled out all the lettuces which have gone to seed. Spread seeds over beds, watered, now hoping for the best. Pray to germination gods
  10. arrived home from holiday to brown and crispy garden: Sydney has been scorching hot and dry for two weeks
  11. Nell and I busy 'helping' our pumpkins and zucchinis with pollination
  12. @KevinRuddPM 5% Mr Rudd? That's almost as bad as nothing at all. Which is what lost the other guys the government...
  13. took another huge haul of tomatoes off the vines before spraying for Qld fruit fly. Also have first zucchini and handful of green beans
  14. @plangarden why bury shrimp shells in the garden? should everyone do it?
  15. ripe tomatoes everywhere at the moment. Baby white zucchini and tiny beans
  16. Good thing: first ripe tomato off the bush today. Bad thing: first Qld fruit fly sighting today.
  17. thinking about finally joining www.diggersclub.com.au but not so good at germinating seeds, even v. nice seeds
  18. watching the rain come, then the sun come out to steam everything, then the rain come. Bad for cycling, good for the tomatoes
  19. just planted three pots of thyme between the pavers under the clothes line
