  1. discovered a wormfarm disaster. The cardboard under their castings had decomposed, and lots of worms fell through and drowned below :(
  2. @crazybrave rainy weather is perfect for seedlings, and I hope you've beaten the earwigs
  3. @Ozquilter congratulations on finishing the project. It's turned out beautifully, and it must have taken hours.
  4. @KathrynElliott sounds like a beautiful filing for a magnificent vegetable - whatever it is
  5. @sockyue I still can't find any mention of blue boilers in relation to mushy peas though - must have imagined them!
  6. @silverbeet rain?! I want some too!
  7. @sophiemostly deepest winter sounds so exotic to me in this heat. The casserole does sound wonderful though.
  8. @howardt smart idea getting it done early, and good to hear your knee is back in action
  9. new on Hoglet K: Stardust, a recipe to celebrate Catsplat http://hogletk.wordpress.co...
  10. RT @Elle_Ann: Struggling to pick/share the best 140-character quote from this beautiful @Orion_Magazine essay "Mind in the Forest" http: ...
  11. @NotQuiteNigella heat induced lethargy for me too. Take the night off I say :)
  12. @arfi71 paper is a good idea, that way you don't damage the roots squeezing them out of plastic punnets.
  13. baked ricotta with honey, raisins and cinnamon (by my mum). Hot last night, cold tonight, and I can't decide which is yummier.
  14. @crazybrave a photo would be great, and it's a great idea making it directional
  15. @crazybrave @silverbeet great minds think... shadecloth. @crazybrave, did you use the 50% stuff like the SA one, or something else?
  16. @crazybrave with the strawberries, I'm beginning to seriously consider stringing up some shadecloth over things to stop the scorching.
  17. @crazybrave did you act on your impulse and buy the intestines? And will you make sausages?
  18. @KathrynElliott that's interesting. I'll have to try sowing direct next time. The problem is they need more TLC with watering that way.
  19. @arfi71 I've been germinating seeds in a box and then transplanting, but maybe they would be stronger if I sowed direct like you
  20. planted 3 watermelon seedlings on Saturday, and thought the heat had killed one on Sunday. Today it has amazingly revived - brave plant!
