  1. Pro Reviews being done by Craig Anderton will be hold until 11/13, as he's currently in Europe and won't have studio access.
  2. Check out the new Pro Review of M-Audio's Torq Xponent hardware/software combination for DJs.
  3. Starting Monday, 10/26: A Pro Review of Propellerhead Software's Record. Think you've seen it all? This software has some serious surprises.
  4. Korg is sending us an SV-1 Stage Vintage piano for an exclusive online review! If you saw it at AES, you already know it's pretty hot.
  5. The HC Confidential newsletter that ships this week has an exclusive AES report from Jon Chappell and Craig Anderton. Don't miss it!
  6. Looks like everything is back up and functional. What a relief.
  7. BTW, apparently it was due to power issues at the facilities hosting the servers.
  8. Well, our crack IT team is bringing the site back up. Most of it is now functional! Yay!
  9. The site is down, serious hardware issue. Will not be up again until tonight, and possibly later. We will tweet with updates. Sorry!!
  10. Another hot trend: Ribbon mics. Established manufacturers (Shure, AT) joined the boutique guys (Cloud etc.). Prices are coming down.
  11. Sonnox's Restore suite is costly ($2K) but has great noise reduction features. Superb, informative graphic interface.
  12. iZotope's Alloy was a big hit. It's a channel strip plug-in on steroids, sort of like Ozone but designed for tracks, not mastering/buses.
  13. Shure's KSM313 is a REALLY rugged ribbon mic - you can blast the ribbon with an air compressor, and it still doesn't blow.
  14. We usually don't think of Monster as an AES kinda company, but their in-ear pro earphones sound fantastic. You could mix on them.
  15. Not many DAWs-Cakewalk, Samplitude, Steinberg had the show to themselves. Samplitude 11 looks good - new limiter, EQ, amp sim, track takes.
  16. As of Sunday morning 11/18, 28 AES videos are in the Theater, with more to come.
  17. The show even had respectable attendance on Monday. Overall, people were very satisfied with the show.
  18. Slate Pro Audio's FG-X Mastering Console plug-in uses clever algorithms to raise average levels without killing dynamics - very impressive.
  19. Huge, hot trend: "Lunchbox" series 500 modules. Many companies had compressors, preamps, vintage recreations, novel modules, etc.
  20. Not high tech, but new and very hot--API's lunchbox 527 compressor.
