  1. First new moth in almost week - Rush Veneer (nomophila noctuella). Not uncommon, tourist, found any time of year.
  2. Run Out? The Captain? With as much time left as there is - NO EXCUSE. V. Cross.
  3. Hacking at Ivy at bottom of rear 'garden' and disturbing various Yellow Underwings - not all noctua pronuba. Sorry guys. Ivy had to go.
  4. Hope this weather isn't the work of an unoptomistic aussie doing a rain dance somewhere. I though the rain was supposed to miss us out here?
  5. Posted to catch up with some special moths, several new ones for me, http://wp.me/pvVXV-fl
  6. 1/12. And we're off to the races. Nice start. Shame I shall be out of radio contact for most of the day's play.
  7. Willow Beauties? No doubt I got it wrong.
  8. Also usual swarm of Small Dusty Waves, muddled Pugs, LBAM or similar?, and a veneer (crambus perlella?) Where did the Willow Beautys go?
  9. Lots of moths: Rustics?, Common Rustics?, Common Wainscot, Setaceous HC, Small China Mark and that Old Lady. Plus a couple of ???
  10. Tonight's washing up interupted by an Old Lady (mormo maura) and ensuing struggle to ID a spectacular moth but battered specimen. A new one.
  11. Prettiest among last night's 'catch' a lovely Scalloped Oak. My first but easy enough to ID
  12. Done it - catch up post completed. [Cheated: ignored the unidentifiable and weeded out most of the repeat visitors.]
  13. @iggyquiggy also 1 hard core Red Admiral currently nursing hangover under plum leaves at foot of tree (but at least no longer singing)
  14. @iggyquiggy if still in doubt about intoxicating plum products you could do worse than consult my p***** hoverfly population
  15. Have caught up on moths from past week and will post tomorrow - thanks particularly to Ben (Essex Moths) Sale.
  16. Am no longer even faintly optomistic re olives. Little chance of enough sun now to ripen. Pinot Blanc may stand a chance
  17. Done with PH kit and pond liner - have prepared a spot for the cranberries. Picked up some kiwis too. Will have to nurse thru to spring
  18. Shame on Sunday Times pic ed. Another story about Alton Towers ban on speedos without running obligatory Casino Royale still. Damn.
  19. PS watched Beyond Borders on DVD (tag: Where Hope Survives) last night. Not sure if it is funniest or most nauseating film I've ever seen.
  20. Oh and another Twenty Plume moth - not be large but are quite unmistakeable. So why so many when none in previous years? Contrary creatures
