  1. Cutting your own bacon slices from a slab of pork belly is, to me, the beginning of making breakfast special..

  4. RE: Chopped contestants: sometimes we have contestants that are less "joyful" than others. It makes it like the kitchen in a restaurant!

  8. Went to a cookie decorating party- felt like a little kid again. I love frosting and all the little candies. My cookie looked sloppy though
  9. The frost finally hit and wiped everything "green" from the stands at the greenmarket. This always takes me a couple weeks to get over.

  13. Love David Chang's & Michael Psilakis' new books. My two new faves. Cookbooks are still the cornerstone of great cooking and inspiration.
  14. In my never-ending effort to collect great cookbooks, pulled an oldie but a goodie off my shelf this morning-Simply French by Pat Wells.
  15. Ate a delish meal at Sfoglia uptown in Manhattan. Food has amazing flavor. Makes me appreciate my Italian roots.
  16. Hit the greenmarket yesterday. Watercress and Arugula from Paffenroth Gardens is incredible. Also love Stokes Farm's tarragon.
  17. Trying to find a good xmas cookie with white chocolate. Not an easy ingredient. I like it but it needs a lot of love.
  18. My 2 yr old loves Ina Garten. She says "Where's ina?" I say "Do you want to watch Mommy's show?""No," she replies, "watch Ina." Tough crowd.
  19. we are in the thick of some dramatic episodes of Chopped. Contestants on that show do not play around...
  20. Loved the holiday episode of Best Thing I Ever Ate. Duff and Giada always make me want to run right out and buy the food they suggest!
