  1. RT @DawnTaylor666: Stan Lee is 87 today. We dated in high school, and I'm appalled that he looks so much better than me.
  2. And a half-dozen must-sees if you've never been to Vancouver before. http://bit.ly/8R1lYL #Vancouver2010
  3. Heading to the Olympics? Here are my picks of other things to do while in Vancouver. http://bit.ly/648OS3
  4. Lorelei would be so proud.
  5. Totally lazy Sunday. Slow morning cooking at the hospice, so caught up on magazines. Then made lunch, watched "Gilmore Girls," vegged.
  6. @jeffsantilli "Precious" is incredible, albeit very difficult to watch.
  7. @jeffsantilli Totally forgot about "Fern Gully"! You're right. There's a little "Starship Troopers" in "Avatar," too.
  8. @barryjohnson I'm fine with them being updated and adapted. But those Holmes society folks are probably busting veins in their foreheads.
  9. @barryjohnson Those great Jeremy Brett versions from the '80s are on DVD. Probably the most-faithful to Conan Doyle's stories.
  10. @barryjohnson The really fascinating ones are the WWII propaganda films, like "Sherlock Holmes in Washington," or "The Voice of Terror."
  11. @barryjohnson Most of them are about an hour long (I think they were made to be the second half of double features), and very tight.
  12. @barryjohnson This fall I've rewatched all those old 1930s/40s versions with Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce. Really lovely.
  13. @ByronBeck Every shot was like something out of a gorgeous coffee table book. Then that dreadful Sam Worthington would open his mouth ...
  14. @shawnlevy Think I will instead console myself with "Hound of the Baskervilles," which I DVR'd on TCM yesterday. Perfect entertainment.
  15. @shawnlevy The more I read about "Holmes," the less likely it is to even find its way into my Netflix queue. Maybe just for Downey Jr.
  16. @OregonianAmyW Saw "Avatar" yesterday at Roseway. Great deal: $9 in digital 3D, comfy seats. Regal's charging $13.50 for it.
  17. "Avatar": 70% "Dances W/Wolves", 5% "Matrix", 5% "Aliens", only 20% new plot. What a sorry script for such a beautifully made film.
  18. Gorgeous Christmas sunrise over Mount Hood.
  19. Earlier today, Northwest Portland was a zoo. Now it's a ghost town.
  20. @LaVeuve And Merry Christmas to you! Have a great holiday.
