  1. The camouflage of this Coast Horned Lizard, seen last week on Guatay Mountain, east of San Diego, is effective! http://tinyurl.com/qytyja
  2. Saw AZ cypress near Tucson on Mt. Lemmon, but too dark to see "smooth AZ cypress" at Sedona by the time I arrived. Must return sometime. :)
  3. Visited Sargent cypress trees growing on serpentine soils on Mt. Tamalpais, near San Francisco, completing CA portion of nice trip. To AZ.
  4. Last couple of days drove down CA coast. Awed by redwoods and forests, beaches, coastal scenes; pygmy cypresses at Albion - small, but old!
  5. Nice drive into OR from Mt. Shasta, then across Cascades to coast at Bandon, OR, seeing a Nootka cypress on the way. Played golf! (w/ bro).
  6. Saw Guadalupe cypress in a Fresno park, Macnab cyp. at Round Mountain, and Baker cyp. at Timbered Crater near Mt. Shasta. Nice lava flows.
  7. Found and photographed Piute cypress in southern Sierra Nevada mtns., then visited giant sequoias in Seq. Nat. For. Amazing trees and drive!
  8. Hiked Guatay Mountain and Cuyamaca Peak near San Diego, visiting Tecate and Cuyamaca cypress. Saw effects from fires, e.g. 2003 Cedar Fire.
  9. Have had good luck so far on my CA cypress tour. Santa Cruz, Monterey, and Gowen cypress have been visited and photographed. On to south...
  10. Very nice time at the Nashville AR "Dinofest" yesterday, where I presented "Dinosaurs of the Cretaceous Period": http://tinyurl.com/nmoahk
  11. Fun field trip to Rush Creek yesterday with Randall Terry, Jim Westgate, students, and very nice college teachers: http://tinyurl.com/msycba
  12. Just got around to posting a photograph of the Mississippi Kites I saw the other day: http://tinyurl.com/lpkxqo
  13. @robzonenet I wanted to come very much to pse09, but had conflict with leading a field trip and giving a talk. You folks have fun!
  14. @ErikRose go go go!
  15. Saw 35 Mississippi Kites soaring this afternoon. This big aggregation was within a sq. mi. in Plain Dealing, LA. They return each year now.
  16. The new Adium beta includes an interface to twitter, which is nice if you use jabber, etc.
  17. Ha! Botanist T. Hartweg, in 1847: how CA people might distrust a person coming from London to "look after weeds." http://tinyurl.com/q3ufh9
  18. This afternoon swatted the first humdinger mosquito of the season -- on the top of my head, just as it was about to tote me off.
  19. Got a new 17" MBP. Used 13" macbook for the last year, had 17" before that. Like the 17" for inspector dialogs in Inkscape, Keynote, etc.
  20. Found and appreciate the art and work of Stephen D. Nash: http://bit.ly/sUa0m
