  1. just ordered a Toshiba NB205 N230 Win7 netbook, so he can keep up with all the fads the kids are doing these days. Wrong though they seem.
  2. @jcmeloni Congrats!
  3. is looking around for a PCIe NIC, so he can give Cyn.in its own IP, since it won't share. Sigh. This sort of insularity makes Linux a pain.
  4. is fascinated by Cyn.in. Under the hood it's Plone, but the look and feel are impressively social/collaborative. It requires consideration.
  5. has just been named the #51 top technical writer on the web, in a list of the "top 50." A little confused about that. http://is.gd/4RQ3f
  6. is configuring Cyn.in on an EServer CPU. I wish it had more NICs free. I'm going to try a SharePoint-ish CMS? To use with Plone? #unlikely
  7. is preparing his presentation for tonight's STC career event. Which career to describe? Professor? Webmaster? Consultant? Gesamtkunstwerk?
  8. is reading about transport stream muxing and demuxing, preparing for a spring seminar which will combine DV, HDV, MPEG-4 and AVCHD. Sigh.
  9. just posted Amy Tehan's November 4th presentation to the STC Central Iowa: "Screencasting for Dummies (and Smarties)." http://is.gd/4P7XU
  10. edited the video from yesterday's STC screencasting presentation. Now the compression software is working. It'll be online by this evening.
  11. Packing up audio and video equipment for tonight's STC Central Iowa chapter meeting. Wireless mic batteries are charged. http://is.gd/4NkWt
  12. @plattitude I'm building a site to support 25 new hybrid 'foundation communication' sections here. Be sure to share your experiences! Thx!
  13. @cherimullins You're not a fan, but the big picture at the top of your site is a MacBook Pro? http://bit.ly/2pvo28
  14. is trying to devise a plan that solves all problems of teacher-training-via-social-networking before the 10am meeting where he's presenting.
  15. was up from 1-3am, so I worked on the Lit program's beta site. Much CSS/Python magic. When the unveiling comes, you may be impressed. I am.
  16. @tmccullough Thanks! I do put in some effort for those flyers. We'll see if this one recruits excellent students, too. :)
  17. just posted flyers for my 549 video course around Ross Hall. 506 (rhetorical theory) still flyerless. http://eserver.org/geoff/54...
  18. is enjoying a pleasant Sunday morning in Illinois.
  19. @buridan Thanks! We've actually got a $6K 8x3GHz box next to the dying one, and I found a another backup today. I think we're good for now.
  20. @tomjohnson They're good, aren't they? Iowa State subscribed, so all my webdev students can do 'further readings' to complement our books.
