@ Biggest irritation with the Fire is the placement of the power/sleep button. It's right where you rest the thing while reading.

@ Battery life seems to be mostly ok if you don't run something that burns through it. Maybe 6 hours? Maybe 8? Don't quote me tho.

@ Then again, I'm a big kindle book consumer. That has an effect. Never liked reading them on the iPad.

@ I love the Fire. iPad is more polished, but since I mainly use it for reading, the Fire works. I prefer the size too, usually.

@ No but both are available as PDF which works fine for me. The Herald also has a very interesting HTML5 implementation.
