  1. RT @ShlomoSwidler "If you can get better at predicting then it's not completely random." - True. So, not truly random. Just unknown.
  2. @shlomoswidler - Bid price is inherently random but over time you can get better at predicting optimum bid for a given confidence level.
  3. @shlomoswider Well, when first principles models are out of the question, time to start fitting curves to data. Regression FTW.
  4. @ShlomoSwidler - "Or: only one eye half-open, seeing through dirty glasses." - And glasses have wrong prescription.
  5. @ShlomoSwidler "Without access to the bid data feed." - Yeah, that's the tricky part. One hand tied behind your back.
  6. @ShlomoSwidler Yeah, more variations needed. Might need a particular instance type or ">= m1.large" type expression.
  7. Stating the obvious, FTW!
  8. RT @barneagal: Strange... Spot Price hasn't changed, yet some of my spot instances were terminated? (Boto scripts working just fine thou ...
  9. @shlomoswidler - What you want is to say "I need N instances of type T in zone Z for N hours" and have algorithm optimize price P.
  10. RT @ShlomoSwidler Wanted: Actuary. Develop a model for minimizing cost of EC2 deployments. - A new market, best algorithm wins.
  11. RT @ShlomoSwidler: If you've wedded your application to EC2 and need it NOW, but you get InsufficientCapacity errors, you can bid very h ...
  12. I think the full impact of spot pricing hasn't really been realized yet. I know I'm still trying to figure out how best to use it.
  13. @ShlomoSwidler "I meant voila. Not viola." - Yeah, I wondered why not cello or violin?
  14. From the first time I heard the idea of spot pricing I thought it was brilliant. Unexpected but totally made sense. Others will follow.
  15. @wattersjames @shlomoswidler - Spikes in spot prices could be a flaw in pricing algorithm. Have 2 see if they inc or dec over time.
  16. RT @jeffbarr: #AWS Job Opening: AWS Evangelist in Japan: http://tr.im/IfOG . #tokyo
  17. @VanessaAlvarez1 it's not a typical MO for Amazon. They've done lots of acquisitions but I don't recall a spinoff. Seems unlikely.
  18. @Furrier RT @siliconangle AWS: Where Is It Going in 2010? http://bit.ly/74NPme - I would be very surprised if Amazon spun off AWS.
  19. Boto 1.9a released -http://www.elastician.com/2009/12/boto-19a-released.html
  20. @j2labs "Scientists actually made transparent aluminum. Amazing" - Watching the Norvig video?
