  1. HATEFUL Euro hacker assholes aside, I'm reveling in a slack, butterflies-are-free kind of critique-writing afternoon - in my life, a rarity.
  2. Oh, and a water dragon has started hanging out in the garden. He's mesmerizing.
  3. HATEFUL Euro hacker assholes have hijacked my website. May they be incapacitated by mumps. (Christian translation: "May God bless them.")
  4. Publisher loves manuscript, which is absolutely heavenly as it was getting kind of uncomfortable hanging from the ceiling by my fingernails.
  5. MANUSCRIPT FILED. Waiting on legals. Phone lines down. Weather sultry. Went swimming with Alex and Bee - the sea was like champagne.
  6. Listened to Britney Spears' 3 today. As Alex pointed out, she sounds like a baby robot.
  7. Yesterday: Alex, Bee and I hit the beach, where I valiantly attempted to tan my thighs as Alex swam with dolphins and Bee learned to paddle.
  8. Walked to the beach after work with my Bee and madly kicked spume into the air as we (joyously) screamed.
  9. Watched a pod of dolphins this morning from the balcony on which I was enjoying Earl Grey, then chucked a water dragon on the chin. True.
  10. Today is the anniversary of my brother's suicide. Eight years.
  11. Yesterday I read about Halcion, practiced the violin (the horror! the horror!), and made a bouquet of pink paper peonies with my dear Bee.
  12. New feature essay commission, two interviews, and a column in the queue, but manuscript edit comes first (beads of blood from brow, etc.).
  13. Reading about chloroform, but not in a weird way.
  14. Finished Charlotte's Web. DESTROYED.
  15. Read Charlotte's Web, the novel that made me want to become a writer, to Bee this morning. Crying so hard I can barely see the keys.
  16. Bee fell asleep at 7:20pm. We are in shock. Good shock. The kind of shock that entails stress-free editing and bedtime before 2am.
  17. Have started editing THE BOOK. Am now convinced that THE BOOK makes no sense at all and want to bin it. Husband says DON'T YOU DARE.
  18. My interview with Mob infiltrator and former Special Agent Joaquin Garcia, aka Jack Falcone, is in the new issue of Men's Style Australia.
  19. In the course of researching my new book, I have amassed the most absorbing books I have ever read. Great, great stuff.
  20. Birthday was magical: white roses, presents, breakfast in bed + lovely scrawly card from B. And my old debating partner may be next PM!
