  1. Bamboo plants are now moving stored carbohydrates from stems and leaves to the rhizomes. They are getting the rhizomes ready for new shoots.
  2. Rain all day. That makes this a great time to plant bamboo. I gave blood this week. Check your local Red Cross website for places to give.
  3. We can supply poles for curtain rods, decoration, walking sticks etc. We can provide dried poles or green ones in diameters of 1/2-4".
  4. Do you have a business that uses bamboo? We grow many types and sizes of bamboo and will custom harvest poles to suit your specific needs.
  5. If you want to learn more about working with bamboo check out the Bamboo Arts & Craft Network at: http://www.bamboocraft.net/.
  6. There are so many things you can make of bamboo that a bamboo nursery in Germany started a list: http://www.bambus.de/1000/434.html .
  7. Bamboo poles make excellent canes, walking sticks, plant stakes, curtain rods, fence slats, fishing poles, flutes, vases and pencil holders.
  8. We have dried bamboo poles and can also cut green (fresh) poles to order. Bamboo poles have many uses around the home, yard and farm.
  9. We have black bamboo poles available for any project. Sizes range from 3/4" to 1 1/2" in diameter. We can cut to your length.

  11. Bamboo rhizome growth has ended and they are now moving stored food into the rhizomes to get ready to produce new shoots in the spring.
  12. Pindo palms (Butia capitata) are hardy in zone 8. They have stout trunks, feather leaves and edible fruit that make a nice jelly.
  13. Windmill palms (Trachycarpus fortunei) are fan leaved and hardy to the Atlanta area. They have slender trunks with a fibrous covering.
  14. Georgia Bamboo also grows cold hardy palms. We have 7 gal and 3 gal windmill and pindo palms. We deliver and offer quantity discounts.
  15. The recent rains and cooler temperatures are good condtions for digging bamboo. Plants dug now should stabilize well and shoot next spring.

  17. The height of hedge bamboo (B. multiplex) can be controlled by cultivar selection, water, and fertilizer. A good soil will also add size.
