Last day off before X-mas. Should be running errands, really just want to click my toes together under the covers and snooze for a bit.

@ Well said and so true, Aric. You've never seemed the kind of person who doesn't express your warmth through other means.

The benefit of a furiously busy retail holiday season is countered by formidable lack of attention to the important friendships in my life.

Thanks for keeping us company through this madness; a power struggle in the truest sense. Tomorrow we tackle the Internet!

2AM: the son of the first PG&E tech came to fix his father's quick-fix. Promised that it will hold until Monday. Sleep time; huge day ahead.

The adventure continues. The fix didn't fix. Power out at 1AM. No heat, no garage door, no refridge, no lights. PG&E will be here "sometime"

Looks like all computers survived the surge, thank goodness. Microwave might be a casualty. Will call claims tomorrow.

PG&E says it was all their doing. Neutral line busted and surged the house. Band-aid until full fix on Monday. Strange, this power thing.

Wow. Basically, our house just blew up. Looks like a transformer with a massive, home-wide power surge. Hope our computers are okay.

@ Crap, I'm so sorry that happened, Aric. I hope you're not too shaken up - or too hard on yourself.

@ I was told that our signal was great by Rachel the tech support rep this morning at 8:15 am.

@ Amazing. They told us the exact opposite thing. Why would this happen?

@ Fast speeds for 30 seconds when we cycle routers and modem. Then nothing. Comcast says it's not their lines nor signal.

@ Hi Bonnie, you can sure try. Internet sputtered and cut out three days ago. Intermittent congestion and TV pixellation since.

@ You're not at all. They were very expensive, and you're a connoisseur. We expected a finer line.

The Lamy gold extra-fine nib often writes like a medium. This has caused much consternation in our household.

Day three of no home Internet. Comcast now says it's on our end. Today after work, we get to rebuild the entire network from scratch.
